Leadership and government are too hugely different things. Families and communities lead. The government makes and upholds the law and protects its citizens and shouldn't be doing a whole hell of a lot else.

  3. Agreed

I was thinking of the word democracy, not the party name.

It's definitely one of the best things about the country. Racism does exist here of course but it's not a big issue compared to many other countries and I don't think most companies give a shit about making race quotas.

I didn't necessarily say it had to be government leadership. Though there's no reason a great leader can't come in the form of a politician. I think if Barack Obama were president, for example, that would probably inspire a lot of people who feel their race is a disadvantage in and of itself.

But then we have people like Martin Luther King who wasn't a politician and was a great leader and an inspiration, instilled hope in people, and united them for a positive cause. It doesn't really matter where this kind of leadership comes from.

But you can't expect cultural change of that sort to just happen spontaneously, and you can't "blame" a massive group of people like some kind of single-minded whole if it doesn't. That's unreasonable.

Fun fact about Canada. It only has 16 black people, and all of them are named Carl.

Even the most staunch proponents of Affirmative Action acknowledge it is a flawed system, akin to a bandaid on a gaping wound that isn't going to solve the problem, but is still probably better than not having it there at all. I don't feel like AA makes my life particularly difficult as a white man, nor do I feel like minorities get all the easy breaks in life, so I'm not sure it should be high on our lists when it comes to giving a fuck.

I agree a politician can lead. I just don't believe a government formally should. Screw all these special inner city money sinks that don't accomplish a damn thing.

It has a ton of brown and yellow people, though. Canada's just as multiracial as the US but in a different way. I understand why racism would be harder to fix in the US given the history.

  9. Nixon is the best president of the last 40 years, but nobody else gets it. We need another Nixon ASAP.

Asians are just white people with low maintenance hair.
