I thought he was great in Lord of War. Weatherman sucked though, the trailer showed the best parts hehe. But overall, I am not impressed with his movies.
MechDeus asked a question in the "I just watched" thread and thought it warranted a thread of its own.
First things first, I think Nicolas Cage is a really talented actor. But secondly, I can't stand anything he's made in about a decade (except National Treasure because it's just goofy fun).
He played lead in two of the worst movies I've ever seen:
8MM
Snake Eyes
Two of his more recent movies were pretty well received, but then I watched them and was like, wtf that sucked too:
Weatherman
Lord of War
He ruined Face/Off for me.
It's like he's in exaggerated mode in most every movie he makes and it's irritating.

Weatherman was kinda bleh, but I loved Lord of War, his perma-depressed sober demeanor was fitting there as the entire movie was about the disintegration of his life yet the fact he's virtually untouchable by the very government that pursues him the most.
Gone in 60 seconds is one of my favorite movies but he nearly ruins it. 8mm could have been an awesome movie, but he totally fucking destroys it.
and then there is this...
/thread.

Give me back my bunny imo.
I generally don't mind him. I understand the complaints about his acting but it just doesn't get to me. I also seem to have a high tolerance for that stuff as long as the entertainment value is high so that may factor into me not minding him. Though he's definitely not an actor I'm like "oh shit, Nicholas Cage, I'm there day 1".
I agree he's been in some of the worst movies EVER made (ConAir, The Rock) but he's still a pretty damn good actor. I thought he was great in Adaptation, and you can't deny the awesomeness of Raising Arizona.
He was excellent in Face/Off. Raising Arizona is really good too.
I really like The Rock.
I liked ConAir because of John Malkovich and Steve Buscemi.
Con-Air is absolutly fun.
Snake Eyes had a great first five minutes, then went nowhere. I do not blame this on Cage.
