Rez never came out here on DC, and the original JSR and SC5 sold like crap.

They could've taken the easy route and just milked their sports titles ala EA, but releasing these sequels and a title noone's ever heard of is a gutsy move on their part.

If EA had some balls they'd release Sword of Sodan TWO

Yeah, but these were all very odd titles & they DID NOT have to come over here. I doubt they broke even on REZ, & I know they didn't on JSRF. SEGA still had the stones to bring out these games over here, almost certainly for their fans. They only made like 30,000 copies of REZ, did they have to bring it out here? Were they trying to make a million bucks with it? No, they did it for us.

" Dude, I have to buy this!" I have been telling him to get it for months, but he doesn't buy many games. One play was all it took though.

He also tried out Halo & JSRF for the first time while down here. Now he is getting an xbox too. I think the trip got more expensive than he thought it would be. =)

Just goes to show that if more people weren't scared to try out Sega's niche games, the company could easily topple EA sales-wise.

If EA had some balls, brains, or even a lick of creativity (outside of the SSX team), then they would bring out, and pimp beyond belief, Skitchin' 2

Sega did release it for 'us' but only because they knew throwing out a DC game that was anticipated onto the PS2 would get sales without a doubt, as opposed to putting resources into an altogether 'new' game. They played the numbers - knew that there was an interest but not a large enough to sell millions - and acted accordingly.

Honestly, I still love Sega as a developer and don't think they have 'sold out' so to speak, but they may go down that path. The Sega of today is far different than the DC days - and I'm not just thinking of the 'no console' aspect.

  7. Shinobi and Panzer Dragoon Orta are more exciting than any of Sega's original Dreamcast games (except Shenmue). I don't feel they have sold out at all and remain as consistent as ever.

"The first time I stepped out of the shadows at GameGO was in a thread called "Sega: the Aftermath." ECM started the topic to argue that Sega's third-party status would result in a string of major compromises, as the company aimed for the lowest common denominator to increase its sales and keep itself afloat financially."

LMAO, that is so sad. Some people try too hard to be 'hardcore' with such a bullshit speculative cynical stance.

  8. btw, how can you even attempt ot compare EA to Sega or vice versa, besides the sports titles they claim totally different markets and are not direct competitors.

when Sega releases MX Sonic Xtreme Biking to compete with Freekstyle, then I'd be worried. i think EA is more worried about THQ right now, hehehehe, actually I KNOW.

I remember arguing against ECM in that thread. But you know ECM, he's an intelligent guy but he is so set in in jaded mentality that he thinks his opinions are fact.

The worst case of is was when he actually argued with me that Goldeneye and The World is not Enough were better than any PC FPS games. I'm sorry, but to think consoles are better at FPS games than the PC is quite ridiculous.
