Thread: Mirror's Edge

Clearly... though so are the stock 360 and PS3 pads. I wouldn't ever play SFIV with any of the three.

  2. I learned how to use a Dual Shock successfully yeaaaars ago for fighting games, and can hold my own in CvS2 with The Duke, so I don't particularly agree. If you're good at a game, you're good at a game.

Similar to how the best iPod will not somehow unlock good taste in music.

  3. Yeah, the Dual Shock isn't great in terms of feel, but it's perfectly accurate so if you can get used to it, it works fine.

I can actually play SF fine with a keyboard too except for Zangief and Zangief-like characters.

  4. That's what the mouse is for. Scroll-wheel SPDs all day all night!

That's obviously true, but I refuse to use shoulder buttons in fighting games. Every pad should have six face buttons. That has been a large irritant of mine for many years.

  6. I set my fierces to the shoulders for leverage. I find I use 'em sparingly for the most part. I need my jabs and my mediums, though.

Saturn pad is still the king of kings, though.

I still can't choose a clear winner between the Saturn pad and the Neo Geo pad, especially the PS2 version of the latter with the six face buttons. It depends on the specific game which one I like more.

I prefer a KB/M for serious FPS gameplay but I do not mind the joypad because I've played so much with it I'm pretty good.

When I started out though, it was a train-wreck. Original Halo was really the first FPS I bothered with on a console. Very difficult.

But the biggest problem is really turning quickly, on a console, and twitch-fine-aiming, obviously. Mirror's Edge doesn't have too many points where you need to 180 super rapidly, and you can tweak the sensitivity on the pad enough to handle everything I've seen so far. And that's what we're talking about here, Mirror's Edge.

kidnemo sent me the news that this has dropped to $17.99 used at shitty GS, so I swung by and picked it up for the 360. Achievements here I come! I never bothered with the hidden packages or most of the time trials on the PC (no achievements + super cheaters leaderboard), so I'm pretty excited for that.

Also, since we are talking about Mirror's Edge, there is specifically a button that turns you 180 degrees.

Mirror's Edge is simply better on PC. Considering the developer, its hardly surprising. I played the game on both, but the controls feel more natural on PC.

This conversation is a yearly one, huh. Reminds me of the epic TF2 thread debate back in the day.
