Thread: Breaking Bad

  1. It fits her character to not want to deviate from plans.

To us going to the same place every week seems like a stupid idea. To her it's the only cover story that makes sense.

  2. I think that was pointed out quite clearly by Mr Ehrmantraut. And the plot is about habit, addiction, our own worst enemy...

I'll admit there was a level of fan service -- the music, El Paso (it was always a western), Baby Blue (a song Walt could possibly sung to himself), Badge and Skinny P make an unneeded reappearance, Lydia gets hers known to her, and the deliciously timed and miraculous revenge kill of Lil' Todd.

But come on, five perfect seasons? Give it some slack for allowing us to indulge ourselves.

  3. I don't mind anything that happened at the end. It all works with the set ups. Like with Todd. He was the bitch of the group and was made to break them up while the rest of them sat there laughing. Gun fire rings out and he's already on the ground, so he wasn't going to stand up into it. I liked Badger and Skinny P, who else could he call on to whisk away for a bit of cash to help him?

  4. I mean none of it was any more implausible or lucky than the train heist or the magnet truck. This is definitely a show where Walt's crazy plans tend to work out against the odds. It was maybe just the confluence of so many things at once.

  5. Not only Walt's plans but the BB world itself requires you to stretch your beliefs a bit. Let's not forget Walt unintentional caused a plane to crash into another plane in the air because he let Jane choke to death. How the ending conveniently played out should not be questioned.

There were still some things left open though. We don't know what happened to Jesse. Or the money, seeing it go to waste somewhere.
The ending was great. The whole point of the series was the transformation of Walt (just as chemistry is the transformation of substance). Anything less than him becoming a god-like criminal brainiac would work against the pull of the series IMO. Great ending. He didn't get everything he wanted (to say a goodbye to Junior), but most of it. I believe if he hadn't of been killed in the finalé he would have been OK with giving himself up to the cops.

The Lydia phone call was timed OK too. She knew Walt was meeting him on that night and that they would be putting a bullet in him. It happening right after Todd's death was convenient.

Walt's end was both tragic and fulfilling. I'll be buying this series and rewatching it in November.

  7. It will be a while before I watch it again. I watched every season 5 episode atleast twice as I waited for the next episode. The show is just that good.

  8. My wife started today, we're on episode 2 as we speak.

It's so fucking weird to see Jesse doubt Walt and these low level gang banger guys try to push him around. They have NO FUCKING IDEA.

  9. I've only got three more episodes to go.

    I know what's coming.

  10. The next episode will be the best hour of television you will have witnessed in your life.
