  2. Yes, but that was before everything old than ten minutes was getting a remake. The problem is before they re-made films that actually should have been re-made. They added a lot to The Thing when they remade it. Remaking it now would add nothing but a bunch of shity CG monsters, no thanks.

    I'm pretty sure there's a Constitutional amendment against remaking "The Thing" again anyway. Something about it being a national treasure.

    ...which itself was an adaptaton of a novel named "Who Goes There?" While the original Thing movie departed from the book greatly, John Carpenter's version was far, far more loyal.

    Plus, the Carpenter version wasn't from an era where every fucking movie under the sun was being remade. Back then if you remade something, you had to bring something new to the fucking table.

  7. Oh shit, you guys just made me realize how badly I need the Thing in HD, given the blade runner treatment. That would rule all.

  8. The first was so damn good, i see this being a disaster. With the right writer you could make a really complex and clever movie without it losing its scare factor, but I guarantee it'll be more of the same with shitty CG gore like FvJ.

  10. I'm talking about just redoing the practical effects for a special edition. All of those prosthetic gore effects are on a whole different level today (I'm thinking mainly of the Freddy Stretch Arm effect and when he claws at Tinas chest).

    No need for any CG work (aside from removing some wires). It would be dope.
