Thread: TNL's GotM: January 2008

  1. I voted Endless Ocean because EGM told me it's not a game, and I like to be contrarian.

No More Heroes. Advance Wars still has the obnoxious difficulty curve (starts out stupid easy and then shifts to stupid hard) and I refuse to double-dip on Rez HD.

Most of that fits into straight port territory, save the replay setup.

  5. I was referring to his part of the post that said "technical overhaul", because as far as I'm concerned, that absolutely is.

  6. I guess SSF2 HD Remix is just going to be a straight port too, eh?

  7. You're equating redrawing every sprite in SSF2 HD to porting an engine. It's not like they repainted the textures or anything.

It's a great port, and it's probably the best looking game ever, but to call it a new game (or even a full-blown remake) is kinda crazy.

  8. It's obviously not a new game, and maybe it shouldn't qualify for this poll. But calling it a straight port is just as crazy imo. Especially when there is a straight port included for easy comparison.

  9. Yeah, I guess that makes sense. It's a weird term when you're talking about PS2 to 360 instead of, say, PS2 to Xbox, since I assume things like HD and 5.1 are a given in the transition.
