Thread: Shows That Got the Shaft

  1. Futurama is making a comeback though. It's been uncanned due to the fact that it's had a huge following since it's demise.

    edit: lol a NBC hat-trick

  3. I agree on Firefly, the show had so much to work with, and I think Joss had ideas worked out for the show to go like 5-6 seasons.

I also agree with Invasion. The show was really slow in the middle but the last few episodes were great. And it was supposed to be picked up for another season but like a week or two before the finale ABC changed their mind, with absolutely no way to try and end the series

Arrested Development & Futurama, despite both going several seasons, should have gone on much longer.

Titus, another show that got several seasons and then was cancelled. Titus himself said he didn't want the show to go for more than like 5 seasons, but Fox wouldn't even give him that.

Andy Richter Controls the Universe. I thought this show was awesome, I think it aired like 12-13 eps and was cancelled, and they had 5 more episodes, though I'm not sure that they finished filming them or not, they were never real clear on that. The fact that the show is still not on dvd pisses me off to no end.

I did like the Animated Clerks series, other than the lack of swearing it felt like the movie imo.

Newsradio, I know the show got 5 seasons, and it just wasn't the same without Phil Hartman, but it still was better than 90% of what was on at that time, and with almost the whole cast following Mr. James when he bought a small town radio station, I think that would have made a good 6th season.

Andy Barker PI. Not nearly as good as Andy Richter Controls the Universe, but still a decent show, I think the premise was good enough to keep it interesting.

Also agree on Freaks & Geeks & Undeclared
"I don't like fellas that kill me. Not in general."

pretty sure, I know there's the savejourneyman.net campaign going on right now but as far as I know everybody has moved on from the show and there's no new episodes set to come out right now (the last episode was re-shot a bit to pretty much allude to a series finale anyway)

  5. Damn that sucks oh well.

You're the reason there are shitty shows like How I Met Your Mother.

I was a Firefly, Invasion, and The Critic fan too, so I'm definitely pissed those are gone. Also I wish The Norm Show went on longer. I fucking loved that show even though it was universally panned by nearly everyone.

I really liked Invasion, for the first 3/4's of the season, but the storyline moved along way too quickly. They'd revealed who the mysterious body was in the water, way too soon, and pretty much exposed 90% of the characters that were actually aliens. The show just flowed like the writers knew it was only going to last one season.

I know you want to keep it within two seasons, but I have to say that Enterprise was cut short, just when it was really starting to become an outstanding show. The 3rd season, was probably one of the best of all the Star Trek shows; it's a shame that the network handled it so poorly.

  9. Jerry - Canceled just after the pilot had finished airing!

But yeah, Wonderfalls - Canceled after the first four episodes. Creators saw this coming a mile away though, and wrote a full story arc that concludes in 13 episodes, which were all shot (and the full, er, half, season is available on DVD).
