Thread: TNL Style Thread

  1. I just caved and got me some slip-on Vans. Loafers are too "business" for what I'm going for.

  2. I prefer the look of Vans to Toms, anyday. Toms sort of look like something out of "The Mummy."

  3. yeah but some girls will be more willing to suck my dick with Toms on than Vans in NYC. Welcome to Hippie town.

  4. Nah, it's the same here too. Bitches collect those shoes, they love em. Not really my thing, I usually wear platform boots or ballet slippers.

Just picked up this coat on super sale:

I'll probably get to wear it once before summer hits, because it's been painfully warm out. But I've wanted a coat like that since the 90s, so I figured i'd grab it for next winter.

  5. I have no idea what I want my style be. You'd think that at my age I'd have it figured out, but I don't and these days my concept of how to dress is completely fluid. If I had the lettuce and lived somewhere other than CT (the land of blue jeans paired with a North Face fleece) then I'd rep like Ryan Gosling did in Crazy, Stupid, Love.:

...But I'm poor and stuck where I am for the time being, so when I go out I just rock a pair of size 30/30 dark navy Old Navy boot cut jeans (always at the waist), which show the ass off nice, with a size small tee and a pair of these:

I'm 5'9", 150 LBS with a slender frame and an athletic build, so that combo is relatively flattering on me. My T-shirts are either a solid color or band tees. V-neck or crew. For the colder weather I have some collared shirts, slim fitting, striped or solid, a few thin sweaters (I'm partial to Kenneth Cole and Claiborne) and a few plaid shirts. I actually have a decent selection of outerwear... I have a couple of leather jackets, one brown and the other a black-brown with a slightly worn look to it which I use when I take the motorcycle out. I also have a black wool winter jacket (Kenneth Cole) and a couple of track jackets. Oh, and I have two blazers - a black and a brown one, both velvet. As far as accessories, I don't wear jewelry but I do have a nifty Fossil watch that winds itself and which was a gift from my grandmother after my Gramps passed (it was his). I'll wear that on occasion. I also have a plain black leather belt and a plain brown one, which I coordinate with whatever shoes I'm wearing. Usually it's my Sambas, but I do have a pair of matte black leather Rockport casual dress shoes as well as a pair of brown leather Bostonians. I have one plain black skinny tie and rarely ever a reason to wear it.

Hmm. Now that I think about it, my wardrobe seems to be cold weather centric. The rest is just a hodgepodge. In the summer I'm usually a hot mess in the style department and tend to just give up and wear what's comfortable. Most of my attempts at a decent warm weather look have failed, so, as a result, it wouldn't be uncommon to catch me in August in shorts, a tee and flops. And shades. Right now I've got a crappy pair of black plastic sunglasses that I bought from Target for $20. I'd like to replace them at some point with a pair of Mosley Tribes Pilots like E from Entourage wore, if I can find them.

I see nothing but blue question marks.

IMO, the biggest thing the guy you want to look like is doing is getting his clothes tailored for a snug fit. (some might consider it very snug).

You probably won't get dress clothes to look that 'perfect' without getting them tailored. If only because very few people have the same body as the dummy at the factory.

Lol, north face clothes. Fucking hate that shit.

  10. I broke from my decade-long position on men never wearing shorts, and bought some cargo shorts from the Gap. Long trousers are impractical when you get within a certain distance of the equator. At some point, comfort has to trump fancy lad fashion sense.
