Thread: TNL Style Thread

  1. Have you tried Mens Wearhouse, Meach?

Anyway... got these for my birthday so now I can muck out my horse's stall in style!

  2. I have 7 pairs of jeans (various blues), at least 40 tees, 10 hoodies, 3 sweaters, 14 button down shirts, 2 pairs of khakis, and 1 cord pant.

I really want to get a matching suit ensemble. I have 2 suit jackets and 3 pairs of dress pants, but I really want an Armani suit.

  3. I've never counted my clothing.

I have 4 pairs of jeans I wear regularly. One is a faded black (purposely faded grey), the other a light sandy blue, a regular blue jean and dark blue jean. I also have a lot of cords. I have tan, blue, brown, dark green and light green. I have a bunch of button up shirts, probably 10 or so and a couple of sweaters and sweat shirts (like 5?). Then I also have about 20 t-shirts I wear from time to time or underneath stuff if I'm looking for more than one colour combo for my torso. I have 4 pairs of shoes. Black, cherry-brown and the suede boots posted before. And then my broken-in kicks I wear when hanging out with my friends. I also own one blazer which I rarely wear.

I'm also looking to buy some irish linen for the summer because it's awesome and I don't have to iron it. I fucking hate ironing.

Luckily for me my line of work dictates that I shouldn't wear suits (suits are corporate, not creative. I could role up to the office with a leather jacket and some worn jeans and they wouldn't question it). I own a nitted tie and some medium width ties. The nitted one always gets a good response from women.

Suits look good on almost anybody, but they have to be fitted. Nothing makes someone look lost when it comes to fashion like a frumpy suit or pleated pants. I also hate shiny suits. They look so gaudy and shit.

  4. Drew- I know you don't live anywhere around me. I just want to know, where do you get your cords from?

  5. J-Crew. I bought some Haynes variety at Men's Wearhouse before that I thought were comparable to the J-Crew ones I bought (a good pair of chocolate browns will go with a lot of shit. They're like a jean almost). Try J-Crew if you're looking for an ass-load of colours to choose from, I bought the tan ones I own from there to see what kind of quality the pants were. They're fine quality, just not anything much different from shopping local. The others I received as gifts.

  6. My problem was I've been trying to find chocolate brown and I could never find them. Maybe its because I always check these cheap-o stores who only have Cords when its winter.

Thanks for the heads up, Drew.

Those are really cute! I would totally rock those with a plain brown dress or something. I just bought these:

I just love brown shoes, they go with everything.

Exactly the same here. Even at Discovery, the most "corporate" like job I've held in this industry, the nicest I have EVER seen an editor or engineer dress is perhaps in a nice button up with some dressier pants and shoes. The norm is more like band t-shirts, tattoos in full view, ragged jeans, and obvious hangovers. If I have a corporate client working on VO or training videos or something like that I'll tone it down a bit and wear a button up, but most of the time I roll into work wearing whatever the fuck I want.

The owner of the studio I do most of my music work at wears weightlifting pants, old ass New Balances, and crusty t-shirts to work everyday. One thing he sometimes doesn't wear is deodorant.

I think J-Crew only sells cords in winter I think, actually. So you could have just missed them by a month or so.

You can't put someone in a monkey suit and a cubicle and expect top-notch creative results. A comfortable, relaxed environment is where the best ideas emanate from. Because when you're not worrying about corporate procedures you usually end up just shooting the shit with your coworkers more loosely and you get better ideas from that open environment.

Half the time the best ad campaigns are thought up at the bar over a pint rather than in the studio, even. Because you're just joking around. We are required to dress up when Ford, Microsoft or Sony swing by the office for a tour, but other than that we can wear what we want. And by "dress up" I mean wear a sweater or button up and non-torn up jeans instead of a t-shirt and torn up jeans.

  10. Yeah, I just checked the website and I found cords. Just not the right size. They suggest to go to the actual store and I think I will. There's one near me.
