To give you a better idea of how much it sucks, for my design class I can design whatever I want with a group of people. Anything. Robots, clocks that play mp3s, robot clocks that play mp3s. What do Chem E's do for design? They make a make-believe factory that processes a chemical. Fun...

It is a ton of work for very little personal pay off.

What's bugging me (right now) is that Mr. K's friend from childhood got cancer way earlier than anyone ever should and died from it, yet the third post from another person involved nothing about "Wow man that's horrible, I'm so sorry," but revolved around how engineering degrees suck? Plus personal reference about how it ain't so bad? I honestly have never been "angry" with anyone on this board, for any reason. I'm cool with most things. But as a veteran member OBVIOUSLY reading about another veteran member's REAL hardships and ignoring them to talk about nothing of value, grrr, buttfuck just made me angry.
Mr. K I'm so sorry to hear that, I have family that are on the way out very soon from the same thing, that's just very sad to hear. Thoughts and prayers with you indeed.

I thought I would be fine going into work today but I left after 30 minutes. Being around other people was too much. I'm going to sit at home and play video games all day.

I feel for you. When my stepfather died, I had my mother to take care of, so that distracted me for a couple of days. It wasn't until a week later that it hit me.

It'll be good to take it easy today; just don't shut yourself off for too long.

Sweet, this is getting better!

My original plans for Christmas was to take one day off next week (the 24th) and fly home on the 23rd and stay until Sunday.

Now with my friend's funeral being this Saturday, I am having my ticket changed from the 23rd to Friday after work. I can't afford to fly home on Friday, fly back Sunday, then fly home again on Wednesday, so I have to take off the whole week. I don't really want to, I don't get paid if I don't go to work, but I'm not seeing any other way around this. In any case, my boss is apparently not happy with this and there are vague hints that I will be fired if this happens.

*Edit - I guess I could get home Friday, drive back to NY on Sunday, go to work until Wednesday, drive home wednesday night, fly back on Sunday. Sadly, I'm considering this because I'm so afraid of not being able to find another job, no matter how shitty.
