Thread: What's Bugging You Today? Volume 3, Part 1

  1. That's a weird LabCorp ad.

I didn't think it was a good representation of our countries spirit, anyway. Honestly beer commercials seem to get it right. But this is Ontario, not BC. I have no idea how much their culture varies. Half their towns are named after native settlements seemingly regardless of indigenous culture involvement.

I had a problem with it being all stuffy and old. Opera, ballet? Canada is a young fucking country. We still do hip hop like it's 1992 (which is amazing) and have some of the greatest alt rock bands ever. Classified's "Oh Canada" rap is a good example of a young song having fun. We don't take ourselves too seriously and don't mind poking fun at ourselves (or anybody else). Why no Hip? Neil Young? (just bribe him with a charity contribution) They have an entire back catalog of awesome Canadiana songs (and slow songs). Sara McLaughlin and K.D. Lang sang song so similar in theme there was no reason to have them both on the show.

The light show was pretty cool. I wish it didn't rely so much on only projection, though. The coolest part was the stuff they did in addition to the projection on the screens -- the whales blowing water up through the air and the big giant polar bear constellation float.

The soundguy didn't have rebecca's vocals coming through the mains, and tried to blame it on our monitors and then on our mics that we brought. Noob...

On the bright side of things, I told the bartender that the soundguy is covering our tab, and she belived me.

  5. You should of yelled "NIGGA YOU CANT MIX PANCAKES!" and then thrown the mic stand at him.

    Next time.

Josh, when do we think we'll be out this whole "I do things because they are ironic and not because i actually enjoy them" thing?

  7. What's ironic about it?

  8. There's a lot of cover bands in this area outside of Philly that will play covers of all kinds of hip-hop and rock music and the crowd will dig them. I can't say that I agree with the whole idea, but if people enjoy it, what the fuck can you do?

    Make fun of it.

Rebecca stole one of the club's awards from their shelf when we left. It was from Black Frederick dot com.
