I'm not going to sit by while somebody is stealing other peoples work and passing it up as his own. For one it's a slap in the face to people doing their work authentically, both in our studio and to other artists. For two it could lead to major lawsuits if the company he's ripping off finds out or the agency that did the work finds out. That would fuck up my resume big time. I don't want to put a company on there that has been uncovered as plagiarizing and stealing work. Because they will associate you with stealing.

By the way he is plagiarizing. I checked his system out yesterday. Not to the extent I thought. Sometimes he just uses an image he finds on Shutterstock and puts words over it, which isn't stealing, just lazy. But he has stolen for some of his layouts. I'm writing up a report right now with details and sending it off to the Operations VP.
Say what you will, but if someone that wasn't highly above me at work, went through my computer because they wanted to be a taddle snake, I'd think they were a pile of shit.

I am super asshole to people who try to shit on good people for no reason. In that instance am I an asshole though? Or beating an asshole at their own game because I'm typically better at it than them. Whether it be on an authority trip, or stealing work from legitimate artists.
I don't really give a shit that you reported him. You're in the right for that. But you sound like some kind of dick headed cowboy when you so easily go through another coworker's shit. Are you above him? Is he in another department? What gives you that kind of authority?

Personally, I'd talked to someone above me and asked if me and him might look at it together. But I guess you shit rainbows at your company and don't have to show courtesy to the people you work with.

EDIT: It is really cute how some of you will go on and on about how wonderful I am when I'm not here "asking for it." "That IronButt guy is so horrible" "oh I know, he is just like that"

  3. actually I will be getting one here soon within the next month or so, it's time for our annual reviews and raises. I already know that I'm going to be getting a great review, because everyone at my new store loves me, so my raise should be sweet too

Sorry to say, but there is no privacy in your work computer. The company owns that computer and anyone (with authority) can go in there and look at whatever they want. If you don't want others to see your personal files on your work computer, I suggest you don't put it in there to begin with.

So your solution is to accuse a man of plagiarism and potentially taint his career without having any actual proof to back up your claim? I want more than a hunch, because maybe I was wrong. I wasn't. So now I know for a fact. I found original artwork on his computer he copied pretty blatantly and put his name on it. It's up to the operations manager to come up with an appropriate response. But now at least they aren't blind to what's going on.

  7. The DMV.

I don't have time to go there and wait in line for four hours, so I tried setting up an appointment online, but the site tells me I'm ineligible to make an online appointment for whatever reason. So I tried to make an appointment over the phone, and the automated system tells me it's unable to process my information. Then I tried to get a hold of a live operator, but kept getting, "The wait time for your call is more than 10 minutes long. You may want to call back later in the day or on another day of the week." I kept the line going for over an hour and still no one answers. And this was at 8 a.m. when the office opens every day.

  8. I've dealt with that kind of bullshit service before. I had to contact revenue canada to change my address, and it took me two months of calling two or three times a week to get someone on the phone. I asked them to change my address, and was told the computer system was down that day, which is likely the only reason I got through. I asked if they could just take down my info and change it when the system was back up. 'No'. I asked if they could call me back. 'No'. I asked what they could do. 'Nothing'. Fucking broken bureaucracies.

  9. Say what you will, but if someone that wasn't highly above me at work, went through my computer because they wanted to be a taddle snake, I'd think they were a pile of shit.
If you're working in a creative field and actively plagiarizing other people work, and you can't suck it up and take the hit that you deserve when someone calls you out on it you're a disgusting sack of shit and deserve to never work in that field again.
