I'll haggle in the local store owned by a guy I know but I'm not going to just walk into a random store and haggle.
And the only reason I will haggle is because I'm a good customer he knows that spends decent amounts of money

If thats the case, then there should be no need for haggling.
I have customers who come in and get a discount because they have shown loyalty or whatever, but none of them would ever ask for it. Theyre gentlemen. I will never give a discount to someone who asks for it. Fuck them. In fact, after refusing to give a discount to one person who asks for it, i will usually give one to the next person in line to show its not about the money. It is about manners and respect.
Every discount I've ever received has never come from asking for it. Oh, you bought a shit ton of stuff from us? You're here all the time? 10% off. Here's a free thingie.
I know I could never give a discount when I worked at EB, but I despised when people asked and got upset when I wouldn't. Fuck you. I don't know you. Why would I do that?

I dont go to the cashier at target and say "hey, if i buy that ps3 and ten games is there any kind of deal we could work out?"
There is a very high probability that if someone came in and bought a system and ten (used) games, one of those games might end up in the bag without being rung in. But not if they ask for it and not if it is all new stuff. The markup on new stuff is pathetic, as i have stated many times. You could walk in and buy a $250 new ps3 and three $60 games. Of that $430 pre tax sale, we would make about $23.
I would gladly pay you Tuesday for a PS3 today.
I know youre cool, i wouldnt even sweat it.
