Mario Kart edition of Iwata asks.

Online sounds solid (you know, for Nintendo). You can see who's online in the MK channel without actually booting up the game, and you can join in the middle of games in progress.

you mean like in the middle of a race or just a session?

  4. In the middle of a race. It'll put you in spectator mode until a new race begins.

  6. Iwata:Instead of being told you’re ranked 83,431, it’s much more rewarding to be shown how many people around the world are playing at your level.
I'm sure this will prompt groaning, kinda like the concept though.

Apparently there's a hidden character from Galaxy in the game, hopefully Rosetta and not a random Toad. *-neo

Ironically, from a statistics standpoint, Nintendo's approach is more valid. I'm sure that's complete coincidence though.

    Nintendo, coincidentally making huge profits.

I agree with most people in the thread, games felt slow, made them less fun. There is something different with them, but slowing them down did not improve that X factor.

  9. Mario Kart is not just playing bumper cars on a track, it's a racing game and the lack of speed is a big turn-off. I'm still going to get this game because it should be a quality party atmosphere game and one that should be inviting to my non-gaming friends.

Otherwise, the series is too inconsistent. I liked Super Circuit a lot but was disappointed in MKDS. I like 64 but was disappointed in DD. The MK formula shouldn't be a difficult one to tweak but for some reason Nintendo is so hit or miss on this series it makes you concerned that you may be wasting $50 when it should be a slam dunk safe purchase.

Honestly, pretty well said. The SNES version was so well done. 64 I liked, but I agree could have been better. In some instances it really isn't too bad to just keep the gameplay just the same and up the graphics, add new characters/tracks/etc. I've enjoyed all the games to some extent, some more than others, so I may get this game at some point, but I am not expecting to be overwhelmed by it.
