Thread: 2nd Annual B Movie Celebration

  1. Just a guest update. Stuart Gordon and Jim Wynorski who have already been mentioned are going to be there as well director/producer Andrew Stevens and Tom Holland director of Fright Night and Childs Play.

  4. It is ironic that a celebration of B-Movies is in the state of Indiana.

    BTW, I wanna go it sounds awesome. Nick should move the Chicago meet up closer to this date, so the people who wanna go to this can go straight to Chicago.

  6. that is a good line up of flicks, but i didn't see the Ultimate B movie in there...Evil Dead 2, its probably the greatest B movie ever made IMO

    Our New Visions Showcase, defines a B-Movie as a production whose entertainment and artistic value exceeds the limitations of its budget. Feature films and short subjects are open for consideration

    This year we will be offering prizes for the winning juried films

    DETAILS:

    Entries are now being accepted for the 2008 edition of B-Movie Film Festival, which will be held in Franklin Indiana September 26th-28th, 2008

    There are no entry fees

    Features, fiction and non-fiction, are 59+ minutes. Shorts, fiction and non-fiction, are under 59 minutes.

    Films should be submitted in either DVD or DVD-R.

  8. So how does it go? You just watch the movies all day and meet and greet in the evening? I would love to get a picture with Stuart Gordan and Tom Savini. They let you take pics right? I also want to get my special edition Re-Animator DVD signed by Gordon. I have never been to any type of event like this before.

  9. Ok, here's the lowdown. This year will be slightly different as some of the venues that we showed films last year have changed but the concept is still the same. Friday night is a meet and greet, if you will. This is a seperate charge from the films, I believe last year it was $50. Champagne and h'ors derves (sp?) are served and you mingle w/the guests. Last year Lloyd Kaufmann was filming the whole thing and interviewing people, it was a pretty laid back atmosphere. After that has ended we will be showing Fire From Below, which was produced by Andrew Stephens (Boondock Saints), on the big screen.

    All day Saturday and Sunday the above mentioned films will be shown. Again, last year we showed them at 3 different locations, including the the theater FFB is being shown. This year, I believe one of those locations has changed to a bar that is next to the theater. While the films are being shown, if you would like there are seminars being given on film making. The topics range from music, directing, producing, screenwriting and make-up/special effects (which Savini taught last year and will be again). Each seminar has a seperate cost from the actual films. However, if you buy the all weekend pass (which is the best option in my opinion) you can get into everything including the Friday night gala.

    Also this year, as mentioned above we will be having a beach party. Now, where exactly this is going to be held I don't know, but there will be a band playing surf songs. We also just added the New Visions Showcase which will allow film makers to submit their films (for free) and if chosen those will also be shown.

    On a side note, I will say that last year I spent the entire weekend there (from about 10 in the morning til 10 at night on Sunday and later on Saturday). Most of that time was hanging out at the bar w/some of the guests (sadly, Savini didn't hang out, but Lloyd offered to be in my film, so that was cool). It was a fun time and a great learning experience.

    Animegirl, all the guests are very approachable and don't mind signing things for you.
