Thread: Top 5 Bands

  1. Top 5 Bands

Since I have been posting more here (since I met rich I guess), I have a good handle on who everyone is, and I have an idea what some of your influences/favorite bands are, but I got a lot it confused by now. It just helps me put things together if you could put a top 5 or 10 list (and maybe the genre overall if its really obscure)

    My personal list:
    -David Bowie
    -Queen
    -Police
    -Velvet Underground
    -Pixies

Not terribly obscure, outside of that I tend to prefer Proto-Punk and early 70's British Glam rock. Thanks to anyone who puts there list in here.
    Check out Mr. Businessman

    For me right now:

    Ramones
    The Vapors
    Screeching Weasel
    Hot Water Music
    One Man Army

    is about all that matters.

  3. Well, my list (in no particular order) would go a little like this:

    (1) Pink Floyd
    (2) Radiohead
    (3) Mr. Bungle
    (4) R.E.M.
    (5) AC/DC

  4. In no particular order

    Guns N Roses
    Stone Temple Pilots
    Led Zeppelin
    Jimmi Hendrix
    Frank Sinatra

I have no idea, I love all sorts of shit.

    The Wrens
    the Smoking Popes
    Modest Mouse
Big D and the Kids Table
    and
    Spoon

are my top 5 most listened to bands though, according to my last.fm charts, but honestly I haven't listened to the middle three of those five in a while.
    The Vapors are fucking great.
    Pete DeBoer's Tie

Under appreciated and ahead of their time.
Its a shame that more songs didn't come out of this band. The bass player in this group had a lot to do with why I play the way I do.

  7. Smashing Pumpkins
    Unwound
    Six Finger Satellite
    Immolation
    Broadcast

  8. Presently leaning on:

    Dave Brubeck Quartet
Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention
    Tom Lehrer
    Belle & Sebastian
    The Beatles

...but my taste is all over the map. I expect that list to be Prince, Van Halen, The Decemberists, Don Ho, and Sir Mix-a-Lot in two months.

  9. The Mountain Goats and Queen will always be my top two. But everything else changes too much for me to nail anything down. Lately listening to a lot of Shellac, Type O Negative and Uncle Tupelo.

I love Frank Zappa. I went through a period of a couple months where all I would listen to in my car was Thing-Fish.
