    I noticed we didn't have a thread about this yet. Paranoid Park is the newest film from Gus Van Sant, due for a limited theatrical release in the US in March.

    The story is about a boy, Alex, who is involved in a tragedy and how he deals with it.

    I just happened to hop over to Hong Kong and picked up my own copy of the region 5 release As if I will ever get a way legal to actually watch it in my region and I must say once again Gus Van Sant has blown me away. While it's not quite as good as Elephant or Last Days it's better than Gerry IMO (sorry icarusfall, Gerry was just too damned slow and plodding even for me). The nonlinear structure of this movie works wonderfully in helping you feel the confusion that Alex feels. And once again Van Sant decides to skip out on real actors, this time finding most of his actors off of Myspace. He found a great actor in Gabe Nevin who plays Alex, he plays the part perfectly. Some of the other actors are a bit of a mix, but in general it's pretty good.

    All in all another great Gus Van Sant movie. Has anyone else seen it or plan to see it?

  2. I've only seen Finding Forrester and Good Will Hunting, which are almost the same movie. Is his other stuff very different?

  3. Yeah, his big studio movies are nowhere near as good as his indie stuff.
