Thread: Unemployment

  1. I agree with icarusfall believe it or not. I'll elaborate later (to keep everyone in suspense. I'm an incredible showman remember), but do what makes you happy and fuck the rest.

    That was pretty funny.

If you wrote a comic that was based on how much you suck instead of your sense of humor you might have a winning formula.

It's so weird, you've taken so much shit from everyone for so long you've found this odd self-confidence to be your own shitty self.

You see I find the exact opposite funny. That its always the employee's fault. Let me tell you, I've got a pretty good deal going in the car industry (on the body shop side), but on the other side, I see guys who used to be able to provide a ton of overhead for their families, who did nothing but work their asses off, get shafted by the company they were loyal to.

A lot more good people (I'd even say the majority of people nowadays) get laid off of jobs for doing nothing in particular wrong, because the money isn't there anymore, or some yuppie Republican asshole with a phone clip constantly in his ear decided he wanted to make a bit more overhead. They weren't just good at their jobs, they were the best at their jobs (most were techs who had 20 years of experience, and worked their goddamn asses off) and now can't find any kind of a decent paying job.

You own your own company, I do not expect you to understand this from the the blue-collar worker perspective, nor should you try to understand it, just know a lot more people nowadays lose their job for no other reason than they were loyal to one company for one to many raises. The super free market system only rewards those who are lucky enough to be able to go into business for themselves, or learn that loyalty is actually a "bad" thing in modern society when it comes to personal gain.

  5. Workers here don't get the shaft. Try working for $1/month in China, and that's working 7 days a week for 14 hours a day.

Maybe we should call them Purple Collars since they get fucked so royally.

I'm amazing. Once you figure that out TNL will get 10x better for you.

As for the unemployment issue I agree with Josh and icarusfall. I personally love working, but I've found a profession I'm good at that has amazing social benefits and a good work environment and good/decent pay. Within the first four months I had been working at my current job I was invited to a Toronto Life social party and a Playboy Halloween party. Both turned out to be amazing nights of FREE BOOZE AND HOTTIES WHO LOVED ME. Today I finished drawing a marsh full of frogs and butterflies and cut-out tree's in Photoshop and got paid for it. I also took a 2 hour lunch driving around the airport because I took a wrong turn and just had a lot of fun in the surreal circular format of the place. I'm sure security thought I was a terrorist bomber or something. And I got paid for that too. Seriously that place is a fucking maze of circles. It's awesome. It was mid-day too so it was a ghost town for the most part. I'm happy doing what I do. If eating chips on the couch watching Days of Our Lives makes you happy then so be it.

But if I wanted to stay home and do nothing (or whatever I pleased) why should I care what the fuck you think about it? And why wouldn't I get paid if I could. I put money in to the system on a mandatory basis so there's no guilt there. Europe works less than we do and churn a bigger profit. They work smarter not harder, so it's not like I owe the system anything. Sometimes it owes me shit back in return too. So give it to me and let me wake up at 1:30 every afternoon.

Someday I may say fuck it and just chum around on the net all day, eat hot pockets and watch Stargate seasons back to back. I did that when I was unemployed for 5 months out of college and I loved it. So long as you feel happy and fulfilled doing it good on you. Fuck the rest.

    Excuse me?

When American companies start shipping jobs overseas that used to be American because its "cheaper" and people think thats "fine" workers certainly get the fucking shaft.

Other countries situation suck for sure, but they are other countries and not mine. Don't tell me because some kid is being abused by a company in China I have no right to feel bad for the guy who thought he'd have a pension he'd fucking earned after 20+ years of dedicated service to a company.

Again let me be very clear about this, because there are people in this country, and on these boards who are naive enough to still believe that if you work hard and dedicate yourself to something, you will be rewarded in the end.

Thats not how corporate America works champ. Some fuckers get lucky, but for those fuckers to get lucky, other fuckers get stomped on.

  8. I didn't say anything about shipping jobs to oversea, but if it makes you feel better, go ahead and think that way.

No he doesn't. He's a middle management monkey that fronts hardcore to a board of people online all day with stories of grandeur and jet-setting. He's obviously tied to a desk 90% of the day unstimulated. I'm a jr designer at a medium sized agency and I can't find the time in the day to post here most of the time. And I'm responsible for no one but myself.

I never said you did, and that makes me even happier.

I just go by what people say about themselves. If someone is lying on here, let them lie.
