Thread: Go, Economy!

There is not a damn thing the government can do for people that refuse to take responsibility for themselves. What is unfortunate is that some kids are going to have to start being responsible much earlier than they should be required because their parents never grew up. I could see community mentors, like Big Brothers Big Sisters being effective, but you can't mandate that.

And this is the problem with our country: overblown sense of entitlement and lack of accountability. This applies to both ends of the financial spectrum. Wasn't it Truman who said, "the buck stops here"? My how we have lost our way.

Perhaps we really haven't thrown enough? Poverty is a great indicator of how many kids some one will have, especially needless kids that can't be cared for by their parents.

  5. I guess I'm more of a teach them to fish rather than give them a fish type of person.
This will eventually boil down into me stating my beliefs that having kids should be a privilege and not a right and then I'll be called a nazi or some shit. So I'll just drop it.

I won't call you a Nazi for that opinion. Many people hold the opinion. If figuring out how one earns/deserves kids wasn't such a horridly sticky situation I might hold the opinion myself. Although it would take a lotta money to teach every one to fish.......

  7. My one rule that I think would help out a lot and not infringe too much upon basic human rights is that you would have to be 21 or older.
Babies having babies doesn't do anyone any good anymore. Ma and Pa kettle don't need the extra hands to help keep the farm going.

I've thought this for a long time too, except my age limit was 18. Any one under the age of 18 (in all states I know of) cannot legally consent to sex with any one so any baby conceived under this would be illegal as well so I was figuring that any one who becomes pregnant under 18 has to have a state sponsored and mandated abortion. Why we basically allow kids to have kids is hella puzzling. Of course soooooo many people would object to this on a myriad of levels I know this would never actually happen.

  9. I was thinking drinking age. If you aren't mature enough to handle your liquor, then a baby should certainly be out of the question.
Also, by that age most people who want college are almost done. So no need to worry about a kid fucking that up for someone.
I think regulations will be put in place eventually. Over population will force the issue.
Most likely it will be a China-like deal.

  10. So it turns out that 2-3 billion of their customers money JP Morgan lost was actually 6-7 billion, but hey at least that money still exists somewhere - right Yoshi?
