Thread: GBA pre-modded advice, please

  1. GBA pre-modded advice, please

Hey, if anyone could tell me a good place to get a GBA, with both the Afterburner and the TV adapter pre-installed, that will give a good warranty on it, I'd much appreciate it.

    Good luck man good luck

  3. I think Chibi said there is room for the Afterburner and the TV adapter if you don't use the dimmer on the Afterburner. You might want to look at something like Lik-sang.com because they have pre modded Afterburner GBAs. Then, just buy the TV adapter and do it yourself. It's so easy. I just did another one last night and it took about 5 minutes total. If you have any further questions about the TV adapter installation just let me know.

Tried them and Lan-Kwei, but none with both installed

The thing is, I know nothing what so ever with electronics. Hell, if I did I'd not only install the things myself, but turn the shoulder buttons into face buttons, so they could actually be used

  5. Not quite what I said. There's room for the dimmer switch too, I just said to not install the dimmer switch on the back part of the GBA that gets discarded when installing the TV addapter (because then it would be discarded ). Here is my advise: The Afterburner is dang tricky to install (cleanly). Have them do that. Tell them to put the dimmer somewhere on the front half of the casing. Install the TV adapter yourself. I swear I'm not kidding when I say semi-well trained chimps could install the TV adapter. It really is cake.

  6. Sorry if I misquoted you there Chibi. I agree! To install the TV adapter you need to know how to do 2 things.

    1. Read
    2. Use a screwdriver

It really is that easy. After you have the case opened all you have to do is push up 2 clips(very small but VERY EASY) and slide in the ribbon cable on top of the existing one. Then just put the screws back together and that's it. I would gladly install it for you. Didn't I read that you were in New Jersey? If so let me know. I'll meet you somewhere and it will take 5 minutes. I can't help with the Afterburner though. I haven't bothered because I do most of my gaming at home so I just use the TV adapter.

  7. afterburner installations they do (lik-sang and lan-kwei) but as for tv advance installations..no one does those installation but for you...its a DIY (do it yourself) kit.

but yes, you can have the tv advance and the afterburner both in at the same time

Thanks for the offer, but no, I'm not in Jersey, I'm an Okey.

But I didn't realize it was that simple, I think I will just get a pre-installed afterburner one and put the TV adapter in myself.

Lik-Sang didn't say anything about where you can have the dimmer placed, or if they even put it in at all. Lan-Kwei offers 2 options:

    Here

    Or Here

So if I'm going to install the TV adapter, I'll want the first option, right?

  9. yes LordPerrin..as for the dimmer installations, those are the only 2 places they suggest..as the one by the start/select button is the easiest

also, i had my 3 gbas (1 black, 2 platinums and maybe a glacier and fuschia) installed with the afterburner by the person who does lan-kwei orders and i gotta say, that if you order from them, you'll be very very impressed by his work.

Well, that's good to hear, I was leaning toward Lan-Kwei, since they offer the wider range of colors. Since the TV adapter only comes in white, I think I'll just install it on the white GBA I already have with the cruddy screen... wouldn't want to have the back mismatched w/ the nice new light-up GBA...

Another question: has anyone tried this thing?

I want something that bulks up the unit, but not so much as the Nyko Shock & Rock I'm using now, and a protective screen cover... the thing looks kinda fragile though...
