  1. Every time I bitch about him, he has a good day. I think I'll bitch about him every day and see if that works.

even as a defensive black hole in left he would still be very valuable to most nl teams. to an al team with no dh like the jays he is amazingly fucking valuable. who cares how old he is; he's still destroying the ball.

how about smoltz? he's a billion years old. i guess he sucks too.
His OPS is so high because he walks so much. Walks are all good and everything but you don't sign a guy like Bonds so he can draw walks in your clean-up spot. His .SLG is nothing special (though not bad).

Bonds is also older then Smoltz by three years. As an older pitcher, you can get creative, throw your pitches differently to make up for the loss in velocity (if you even have any). As a hitter (one with years of steroids abuse on his body) you can either swing good or you can't. Physically, Bonds isn't what he used to be, even before the steroids. He may provide you some good AB's and hit some HR's but he's not going to be winning any MVP awards.

Well to be fair he did put Delgado down the lineup by 1 spot. Better than nothing.

    <sigh>

I like Church more every game. That dude has done a damn good job and he's better defensively than I thought he would be.

Harold Reynolds will do some pre and post game stuff for the Mets on a part time basis. I liked him on Baseball Tonight and he should do a good job for SNY.

You don't pay 10mil+ for a clean-up hitter who walks a lot. We got into this discussion before about Bobby Abreu vs. Soriano. It's like "Oh, heaven forbid I walk Ryan Howard with this menacing walk machine protecting him in the line-up!" Pat Burrell walks a lot but his walks don't completely offset his regular AB's as they do with Bonds. The guy is supposed to be good with his stick, he's not giving his true value if he doesn't get to use it.

  7. Gohron is a great example of why players make poor baseball analysts, yet ESPN will only hire ex players!

  8. barry bonds hit a HR once every 12.1 at-bats in 2007. third best in the national league.

so yeah that makes him exactly like bobby abreu. who is also, but differently, awesome.

he's mixing inaccurate facts with illogical arguments, which frankly impresses the shit out of me

  9. Bonds brings a whole lot more (negative) with him than a bunch of walks and impressive HR stats. I wouldn't want him on the Mets at all.

lol everything about this post is a trainwreck

you can be an incredibly valuable player and still not win the mvp, gohron

    edit: for fun

bonds slg last three seasons: .667, .545, .565 (tied for 11th in mlb last year with miguel cabrera btw, yeah that slg is nothing special)
    ryan howard: .567, .659, .585

    also bonds doesn't k 200 times a season.
