Thread: The Official MLB Season Thread (Opening in Japan at 6:00 a.m.)

  1. Way to cough up the lead, Jays. Six runs in the eighth inning.

    LAST PLACE!

I hope someone gets fired for this. There's something seriously wrong within this organization.

  2. Phils come closer tonight to taking their rightful place in 1st after reality catches up with the Marlins. Their traditional late season play should solidify their lead by late August.

Yeah, that was a Yoshi post there....please don't quote me on it later.

  3. The Mets are 65-66 in their last 131 games.

Alou is too old. Castillo can't hit. Reyes is a shell of what he could, no, should be. They don't have "fire". They haven't recovered from last season. Their pitching is marginal. Delgado is shot. Willie needs to move on. This is going to be a long fucking year.

  4. In Dodgers news, Nomar played a whole 9 days before he had to be put back on the disabled list. It looks like he is in mid season form.

From what I hear, Russell Martin had to make his major league debut at third base last night because the Dodgers used up the rest of their infielders.

  5. Ryan Church has made it pretty easy to forget about Lastings Milledge so far.

  6. Phils continue to power forward with a good game by Kyle Kendrick tonight. Chase Utley also continues to be extremely awesome.

  7. Mets take 2 out of 3 from the Braves. Delgado hits 2 homers and the fans wanted a curtain call.. Delgado didn't want to. Something is wrong with Hudson and Smoltz especially Smoltz who is obviously battling something with his neck and shoulders.

And Blake DeWitt was inexplicably sent to the minors for a scrub pitcher whom the Dodgers don't need.

Whether that decision was his or not, Joe Torre does not get high marks from me so far. The constant lineup switching isn't working, and the Dodgers still can't score. Best to let the young guys play and develop.

  9. The AL East so far:

    Baltimore 14 11 .560 -
    Tampa Bay 14 11 .560 -
    Boston 15 12 .556 -
    New York 13 13 .500 1.5
    Toronto 11 15 .423 3.5

    What the fuck.

Totally agree with your opinion on the lineup switching so far. I don't think the Dodgers have had the same batting order/lineup 1-9 yet this season. The players need to learn their roles so they can start to become more consistent.

I think the only real smart move Joe Torre has made so far is starting Andre Ethier over Juan Pierre the majority of the time.

Now only if Andruw Jones can start hitting...
