Thread: The Official MLB Season Thread (Opening in Japan at 6:00 a.m.)

  1. i'm going to the Dodger Met game tomorrow too. Woo!

  2. Mets salvaged the final game against the Dodgers with a nice blowout win. John Maine was great and almost went the distance..very refreshing to see since Mets starters hardly get to the 7th inning these days. Mets seem to always beat up Brad Penny so I was confident the Mets would pull this game out.

  3. Whats up with these weekday games that start at 12 noon? I missed the entire Dodger game because of work today, but it looks like I didn't miss anything. You're right about the Mets always beating up on Brad Penny too. I can't recall the last time he helped us to beat the Mets.....and allowing 10 runs is just horrendous.

Oh well, it was a good series all around, and taking 2 out of 3 games is always a good thing

  4. I went expecting a good pitching duel. Oh well.

It was dumb of Randolf to leave Maine in for 117 pitches in a game they were winning by 12. With that lead starters should be out around 100.

  5. I heard on Sportscenter that Maine today was the first Mets starting pitcher to get into the 8th inning? That's crazy if true.

  6. Santana (pussy) NEVER goes beyond 7 and the rest of the staff (besides Maine) has been pretty much awful.

  7. Carlos Gomez (former Met, so maybe some of you would pay attention) hit the Cycle last night for the Twins. In reverse. Lead off HR, Triple, Double, and then ended it with a single. Dudes fucking hurricane winds on them bases.

We have already forgotten about Torii Hunter, this town is in LOVE with Go-Go.
    Barf! Barf! Barf!

I'm happy for Gomez. Always liked the kid and wished he was still wearing a Mets uni but he now has an opportunity to play every day in Minnesota. I'm not surprised that he's become a fan favorite too..he's fun to watch! He's still very raw but I think he'll be patrolling center field for a long time with the Twins.

  9. FSN just released this list of the "Ten worst Sports Franchises"

    http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/8...PHCP&GT1=39002

    1. Pitt. Pirates
    2. KC Royals
    3. Phoenix Cardinals
    4. Tampa Bay Rays
    5. Detroit Lions
    6. Boston Bruins
    7. Minn. Twins ?!?!?!?
    8. Atl. Hawks
    9. Memphis Grizzlies
    10. L.A. Clippers

The reasons for all of them are pretty obvious, but the Twins one is ludicrous. Their main reason is for trading Santana and not resigning Torii Hunter. That we immediatley ship off any stars/veterans we have. I guess resigning Joe Mauer, and Justin Morneau (former league MVP). They also ignored the fact that we have made the playoffs for years now (minus last year, you know when we still had Santana and Hunter), won a few Central Division championships, and are now leading the Central Division; when we were slated to be one of the worst teams in the league.

We do have a penny pinching owner who made most of the 90's a real drag, but is turning a franchise around and having consitant succes really worth 7th worst in ALL of the four major sports?! We are worse off than the Clippers, Grizzlies and Atlanta Hawks?! I can't imagine many people would agree with that.

I just read this and totally agree with you. I'm sorry, but I can't put the Twins on the same list as the Rays, Grizzlies and fucking Clippers. That's straight madness.
