Captain Vegetable -
I really enjoy using a mouse on FPS. I also enjoy controller based ones too.
Yet when it comes to where the AI is being done right - a key point of a game, I believe that console shooters are getting it right.
Mouse based ones are more frenetic, at times more enjoyable (though not exclusively so). I just want to see some decent advances in bot AI in based shooters.
Primarily so I don't have to hope I won't be railed in the craziest of places.
OK then. I agree 100%. But until the leaps in AI are achieved, I don't have a problem with insanely acurate bots. But, that's just me. Besides, I never knew what people saw in Goldeneye...I thought it sucked. And who plays single player in an FPS?!![]()

Mostly for the unique experiences and scenarios/stores that many games feature.
If I want a challenge, I'll find a human opponent.
It's a mirror image!
My opinion? PC. Easily. Better control, better online play. Goldeneye was a joke.
Anyway, I haven't bothered with the "cheap" AI in Q3 enough to comment.

-Damn right Captain? I havn't played single player Halo yet. Just 2 player co-op - heavenly. Completed the game with my housemate.

- Glad we're seeing eye to eye.
It's been fun arguing with you. we should do it again sometime.

I look forward to our next dis-agreement.
Like the ending of a bad Superhero cartoon (Like Captain Planet)

Ciao
My vote is definitely for the PC. I have played FPS's for a while and the only one that i could stomach was outtrigger for console. The PC has so many titles in this area. It's one of the reasons to own a PC.
My first PC FPS was SHOGO, and I have been addicted ever since.
Right now I am playing and loving Unreal Tournament 2003. I found it on an FTP site. I went on UT2003's bulletin board and posted the plusses and minuses and actually got under Marc Rein's(head of Epic) skin enough to reply several times and ban me from the site. Hey , I already pre-purchases the game!! He is a dick. Love his game though!
Until the X-BOX releases a mouse and keyboard, I won't be playing anything on console. My money would be on the fact that the BOX will very shortly be embracing its PC roots!!! That is where their exclusive content lies. just a thought or two!

Hehe, I didn't think my ECM comment would create an entire thread.
Who plays FPS games for single-player, you ask?
I play them for single-player WAY more than I play them for multiplayer. They are pretty much two different genres.
Either way, the PC is vastly superior. And not just for ease of control. The main reason is that most of the best FPS developers are PC developers. This is slowly changing, with Bungie being bought out by Microsoft and some talented console teams like EA Dreamworks appearing.
I vote PC, because not only do you use a vastly superior method of control, but there is also the ability to use mods and other things like skins.
Console FPSs would be great, if they supported keyboard and mouse controls. Just look at DC Quake 3, that thing plays like a dream.
