Thread: FPSs Console VS PC: Fight!!

  1. Well I didn't even bother to read this thread so if the subject changed and I'm still responding to the topic, now you know why.

Anyway, FPSs are better on the PC period. Sure the console has some simple fun diversions like Goldeneye and Doom 64(The only good console FPS games), but thats about it.

  2. Control, graphics, blah blah blah.... aren't games supposed to be about FUN? Isn't that all that matters in the end? And my own experience is, I've had hundreds of hours of it with Goldeneye, yet never have I gleaned even 1 second of enjoyment from a PC FPS. Console wins.

Your mileage may vary, of course.

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!

You obviously have no idea where the good QIII players play. Go download Threewave and play some CCTF servers, many of those house the best QIII players in the world, one of them being one of my roommates (If you ever see a name with the numbers "456" next to it, that's him, he doesn't use that often anymore, I'll try to find out what name he uses now, but he does still from time to time). He's gotten over fifteen Excellents across his screen (for those who don't know how that works, and Excellent is obtained when you fire railgun shots in perfect succession that all hit. So 16 railgun shots in a row that all connect will net you fifteen Excellents), and can use the grapple so well he stays in the air more often then an expert GunValkryie player. Trust me, hitting with the railgun perfectly is child's play to an expert Quake player.

Even so, the railgun alone does not show off how good one is. One must have knowledge over all the weapons strengths and weaknesses to do good at that game, I've watched my roomie destroy people with railguns using nothing but the shotgun. And if he (or me, for that matter) feels like having fun with those of a lesser skill level, you will fear the Quad Grapple (get the Quad damage pickup and then latch onto people using the grapple, kills them in about two-three seconds). It's also quite fun landing on people's heads with the grapple, they never guess you've latched onto them from above and will spin wildly trying to figure out where they're getting hurt from until they gib. People who don't know of grapple-killing techniques tend to stick with using the Rocket Launcher, which is bad news for them and spinning to kill someone grappling them while armed with Rockets usually results in their death as well.

Back to the topic at hand: Console FPS' use cheating far more often then PC FPS' do, especially evident in both Goldeneye games, where they use infinite respawns during the game to keep the challenge level high at certain points. Both PC and console tend to have cheating occur at the highest difficulty levels in regards to guards uncanny ability to see and hear from huge distances wholly unrealistically.

In any case, PC FPS' all the way. Console pads suck at aiming, that's all there is to it. Combine that with low resolution (kills the ability to snipe properly), no mods (where would Half-Life be now on PC if it wasn't for CS?), and so far tiny groups of multiplayer, and really what reason is there to play them?
