    It's because the less you have to scroll to get to the article the better.

    Basic web design. Make the page as accessible(IE6 and Safari) and as simple as possible.

  3. yeah but Ad, it's just the title of the game. it's not the actual article. i highly doubt that's what Nick meant. he was talking about the actual review.

  4. I understand that, but I used those quotes to express the need to reduce the amount of scrolling. I was taught to have the least amount of scrolling as possible. The more you scroll the more you wanna click away. Unless if the article is HUGE, you mainly want to get to the content as fast as possible.

    The fact he wants to put the title there AT ALL, initiates the fact he has to put it over the art. I personally would reduce the size and put it next to the Play.Games title.

    Like: PLAY.Crisis Core

    But if he wants to put it over the art, I showed him an easy drop shadow code that can work on all browsers.

    he doesn't HAVE to do anything. i don't think he's understood yet what i meant by no type over the art. (since he removed the art completly after i mentioned it)

    No, I understand completely what you meant about the text being over the art. I'm still doing it that way because I disagree with you on that point. *heh* Putting the title over the art lets me (a) compress space a bit, and (b) get away with making the title larger in font size. If I move the title off of the art and into the main body, it's harder to justify making said title big. It also gives the layout a bit more of a "Play" feel, I think, since we often do the same kind of thing in the mag.

    If you look at the "first look with customized layout" link in my first post, though, there's an example of me trying it without the text over the art. Really, though, even at that point, I wanted the text on the art.

    I'll take a full look at it later, but from my quick glance, it's basically doing the same idea I had before for how to do it. If I continue to be the fickle bitch that I am and demand that the text be over the art, I'll give it a shot and see how it looks.

  10. I like the font over the art, it is consistent with the magazine. OR you do the other idea I had. Put it up top with the Play: Games.

    ex: Play: Crisis Core
