I don't understand it, I can play a game with 12 people of Call of Duty 4 with virtually no lag. Tear people into half with accuracy on a consistent basis. Yet, last night I finally tried to play Bomberman live and after about 10 matches I never wanted to play the game again. Why is it that so many non fps games have such issues with lag. I gave up on NBA Street with 970 out of 1000 because I couldn't win 10 matches in a row. I won't cheat, the lag was out of control in that game, Tennis is another game that the lag was so bad I couldn't handle having the ball bounce all over the place. Bah, Am I just complaining or have yall noticed it too? RB6V, Cod4, Halo 3 are fine but anything else is almost not worth my time. Anyone have suggestions or is something we all have to deal with?
I don't think we'll ever be lag-free anytime soon, the technology just isn't there.
You can limit lag with a good ISP.
Developers need to make better netcode.
Some genres have it easier when it comes to making an (apparently) lag-free session. FPS games in particular.
This is all on the developers backs. There are so many shitty multiplayer modes in games with even worse netcode. Until developers start treating multiplayer like a selling point (like Bungie, Infinity Ward, and a few more developers), there is going to be second rate implementation that offers second rate performance.
The glitches in Bomberman were finally fixed, but it's too little too late imo. They waited fucking months to patch it. By that time I had already moved on.
And you want lag? Fight Night Round 3. Play that game online and you'll see just how fucking terrible playing sports games online are.
I just blew a casket last night when I was ahead of this dude and I dropped 3 bombs and then all of a sudden he is in front of me by like 10 feet dropping 3 bombs trapping me in the middle yet I had 4 bars of pure goodness.
