Not the stupid, even further tedious, weapon creation system, though, right?

The weapon creation, as well as a lot of the other extraneous events of the game are totally optional and can be skipped. All the weapon creation entails is combining weapons/and or items you find to either upgrade attributes of a weapon, or to form a new one. This only takes a few seconds, to a couple of minutes at most. While doing this can yield you some powerful weapons, you eventually find better weapons anyway. The only mandatory activity that may annoy/bore some people is the village building task. Even then, you can just build to meet the minimum requirements to advance the game, and not worry about making aesthetically pleasing landscapes.

So I played this a bit at Tain's yesterday and this game is awesome. It's definitely not for everyone but it's fast paced leveling and emphasis on learning the game and how to deal with things, along with the luck of the draw aspect made for a great hour of dungeon crawling (All because I found an awesome weapon on the first floor)

If it makes you feel better, the Wii version is at 54% (but it may or may not be worse). Pretty bad GR score, but I'm sure there are games around there that I liked too

It really does seem like a game a lot of people will hate, in fact. I think you may have to be a masochist to enjoy it.

I think it's been proven that these types of games always are better than the press would lead you to believe.
