Biff knows that shit isn't easy, he's just being a cunt.
EXACTLY. I'm a journeyman cook. I'm not under the pretention that I'm some super artist, but I do understand that it's my job to make decisions for you in the effort of putting out the best dishes I can. That's my job. It's the entire point of eating out.
This bullshit of the customer is always right has no place in decent eating establishments. Of course we'll do it for you, but it's not appreciated. I don't know how many times I can say this.
Boo, Hiss.
although not directed at me I'll respond anyway... I know your job is tough, I have family that owned restaurants and/or cooked in them and the stories are those of hard work, sacrifice, long hours, etc. In the end they were there because they knew how to cook and provided a service in order to make money. That's honorable and I respect that tremendously, it's when you add the arrogance and sense of entitlement to your creation that is off.
Working in an office running or participating in economic decisions is at least as hard if not mentally harder than flipping steaks. I have respect for both environments, and certainly respect a good cook as much as a good sales rep.
Not sure why we are fighting.
Awesome.
Boo, Hiss.
To be fair, though, a lot of this simply comes from ego. I have, countless times, designed a new website or ad or layout or whatever, something I thought was stellar, and then had the person I was working for want something changed that in my eyes "ruined" what I had put so much time and effort into. But, the fact is, I'm making it for them so that they'll give me money, and my choice is either to change it so that they'll be happy or not get money.
It can be really tough in that position, because you feel like you know far more than the person in regards to what is or isn't good for that creation (and the truth is, you probably do), and making that change is just like stabbing yourself in the heart with a knife. But, that's what you do, because you're making it for your customer and not yourself.
