10. Brigandine - Probably hasn't aged well, but I liked it too much at the time of its release to exclude it from the list.
9. Vanguard Bandits
8. Vandal Hearts
7. Final Fantasy VII - See Brigandine.
6. Suikoden II
5. Chrono Cross
4. Lunar : SSSC - Better than the SCD version. I went there.
3. Arc the Lad 2 - The best. It's not even close.
2. Front Mission 3 - I love this game so goddamn much, but I hate the Internet segments.
1. Suikoden - This is about as close as an RPG is going to come to eclipsing Chrono Trigger.

VIII's storyline was the most convoluted plot hole ridden pile of tripe that Japan has ever tried to pass off as a video game.
Seriously, OMG we grew up together but we've been using Guardian Forces for 6 months so we completely forgot! This you consider a good storyline?
When it got to that point in the game where that faggotry bullshit is revealed I dropped the controller and said out loud something like ohh fuck you.
It really is one of the worst plot twists in video game history.
I enjoyed FFVIII but yeah, I don't think I ever groaned in disgust at a story point in a game more than that.
I didn't bother with FF VIII as soon as I hear Faye Wong sing that theme song.
Is this an appropriate time to submit that Tetsuya Nomura ruined videogames forever?
