Thread: WWE Legends of Wrestlemania

  1. WWE Legends of Wrestlemania

    From 1up:
    WWE Legends of WrestleMania Announced
Pro wrestling spin-off to launch for PS3 and Xbox 360 next spring.
    By Andrew Hayward, 05/08/2008
THQ and JAKKS Pacific confirmed this week that they are preparing WWE Legends of WrestleMania, a spin-off from the popular WWE SmackDown vs. Raw franchise, for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Further details were not announced for the new game, but based on the title, WWE Legends of WrestleMania should find the middle ground between the SmackDown franchise and Acclaim's last-gen Legends of Wrestling games, which starred a cavalcade of retired pro wrestlers.

"The development capabilities afforded by next-generation hardware, combined with our established history and deep understanding of fighting videogames, allow us to leverage the strength of the WWE brand to further extend our leadership in the fighting videogame genre and bring this new property to market," said Peter Matiss, vice president of global brand management at THQ.

Included wrestlers have not been announced, but if the premise does indeed focus on former WWE superstars, you can bet we'll see Hulk Hogan (pictured) prominently featured in the game. Those more interested in the next iteration of the traditional WWE franchise can check out our Wii preview of WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2009, which is expected to ship later this year.
If this is what it sounds like (i.e. a nostalgia game for long-time/former wrestling fans), here's hoping it takes advantage of the fact that WWE now owns its 90s competitors. Stone Cold vs Goldberg, anyone?

(Actually, now that I think about it, most of the worthwhile people from WCW and ECW ended up crossing over to WWE anyway...)

God ain't that the truth. No Mercy is a wrestling game even non wrestling fans can get a kick out of with 3 other players. I cannot stand any of the PS2/XBox/360 WWE games..they are all shit compared to the fun N64 WWF/WCW games.

I have lots of old school wrestlers that would be great for a Legends game but I think they'll probably fuck this game up like the shitty Smackdown vs Raw games.

edit: I forgot about the great FirePro games. Those are awesome especially if you can find a way to put in added stuff like the ECW add-ons that are out there.

  5. Whatever you do in this game, and if it will be in there, do NOT pick Owen Hart's alternate Blue Blazer getup. There's always a chance that you'll get a game over before a match even starts.

    Also: No Mercy for life.
I'm not a devious man by nature... but when you're unarmed, your tactics might gonna be downright Archimedean.

  6. lol they can't even call it "WWF" anymore

  7. wrestling is so stupid, every wrestling game besides No Mercy sucked, I liked it better when Goldberg was around, why do they wear tights and oil themselves up, etc, etc, etc....

  8. I want a game like arcade Wrestlemania, but with less wackiness and better and more wrestlers.
