I thought they were all really good, I like the fact that MGS games really make you work at them - those guys always take like ten minutes to kill. I did have to cheat and use a FAQ at the Sorrow though, I had no idea you could access the item menu at the continue screen. I originally thought it was like this meta thing where he says "leave this place!" so you have to choose exit on the continue screen. I did so, ended up back at the title screen and had to redo everything from the prison cell because I hadn't saved.
About Volgin's dad having all the money, that's what they say throughout the game. And if you figure Ocelot has the real data on the legacy that makes sense if he's an agent for the Philosophers, and in the end dialogue he's speaking to the heads of both Russian and US intelligence; they both think he's their spy but he's playing them against each other and split the money between them. This serves the Philosopher's purposes, because those governments will use the cash to keep the cold war going.Originally Posted by Destin

This was the one interesting thing from the story. You don't get the impression that the leaders of Russia and the US are directly taking orders from the Philosophers like the Presidents were taking orders from the Patriots in MGS2.-Most governments in MGS are puppets, or at least I get that impression.
The Patriots seem like they're meant to be the US wing of the Philosophers, but it's not clear if they have power over everything yet in MGS3, or what the difference is. They're always referenced as the Philosophers.
I get the impression that when they lost their cash, they lost their power. That's what Boss is talking about when she says she wants "the world to be one again" - she wants the Philosophers to get their cash back so they can run shit again.
Except she also seems to think they're jerks, so I kinda don't get why she's willing to give her life for this. I also just undid my my explanation for why the US & Russian governments end up with the legacy.
