    Sneaking is only slow if you want it to be. It's much easier to wait for enemies to split up, then run up and CQC each one. Shoot them after you stun them if you want to stick around the area.

    I thought they were all really good, I like the fact that MGS games really make you work at them - those guys always take like ten minutes to kill. I did have to cheat and use a FAQ at the Sorrow though, I had no idea you could access the item menu at the continue screen.     About Volgin's dad having all the money, that's what they say throughout the game. And if you figure Ocelot has the real data on the legacy that makes sense if he's an agent for the Philosophers, and in the end dialogue he's speaking to the heads of both Russian and US intelligence; they both think he's their spy but he's playing them against each other and split the money between them. This serves the Philosopher's purposes, because those governments will use the cash to keep the cold war going.

    But it doesn't really explain what Eva thought she made off with, and why Snake still had the chip thing at the end after she left.

    This was the one interesting thing from the story. You don't get the impression that the leaders of Russia and the US are directly taking orders from the Philosophers like the Presidents were taking orders from the Patriots in MGS2.

    The Patriots seem like they're meant to be the US wing of the Philosophers, but it's not clear if they have power over everything yet in MGS3, or what the difference is. They're always referenced as the Philosophers.

    I get the impression that when they lost their cash, they lost their power. That's what Boss is talking about when she says she wants "the world to be one again" - she wants the Philosophers to get their cash back so they can run shit again.

    Except she also seems to think they're jerks, so I kinda don't get why she's willing to give her life for this. I also just undid my my explanation for why the US & Russian governments end up with the legacy.

  3. Might as well ask here, but MGS3 Subsistence has the MSX Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2, right? I think I need to pick up the Essential Collection soon.

    subsistance OG, the MSX MG1 and 2 are on the 2nd disc with metal gear online, which isnt with the essential collection box.

    Start looking hard, i just barely found a copy of subsistance last month.

  7. Oh yeah - what are the little frogs for? I shoot them and they make weird noises and that's about it. I didn't even notice a this-is-how-many-frogs-you-shot stat at the end.

  8. MGS2 gives you the impression that the patriots run all.

    I figured the CIA and KGB (At least the CIA) were the hands of the phils. Man that shit really made no sense the more I think about it. I got through by just assuming alot and sticking with it.

    Running around and killing everyone is not sneaking, that is running around and killing everyone. You can get through the game pretty quickly by just running and rolling for sure, especially on the lower difficulties.

  10. MGS3 is my favorite in the series so far. I loved the boss battle with The End, it took an hour but I felt such a sense of accomplishment when I finally got him. Also, you can cheat and not touch the game for a week and he will just die because he is old. That is awesome.
