No we're realists. The idea of making a really high gas mileage car is awesome. They need to take into consideration though that 16 wheeler trucks aren't going anywhere, and for anyone who lives in a state where you're doing most of your driving on a highway full of big as trucks, something with no horse power is going to get you killed. It's great to sit there and go imagine a world where everyone drives 130mpg cars that's so awesome, but some one has to go uhh ok now what about all the trucks?

That's the same problem with most electric motor cars, they have no power. I don't think electrics, low power, or hybrids are the answer. I think it's going to have to be another fuel source like say methane or something else.

1) people that do mostly highway driving can just not buy one

or

2) punish the hell out of truckers who hit these little guys, making them want to notice for them

OR 3) put a 15 foot orange flag on each one of these little guys, making them easier to spot in a crowd in case they wander off.

It does matter if the 0 - 60 in 20 seconds causes the 16 wheeler behind you as you pull onto the highway that is doing 90 to plow right through you, leaving you and your car as a large smear on the road. Then you never get to hit the brakes and have the car flip.

Have you ever driven in NJ?

If not then you need to shut the fuck up. We're a corridor state and Route 80 is pretty much 80 - 90% 16 Wheelers, so unless you never want to pull onto the highway, then you're going to be pulling onto it in front of a 16 wheeler fairly often. Highway speed in NJ is not 60mph, most people in the "slow" lane are doing 70 - 75. Pulling onto 80 means getting up to highway speed pretty fucking quickly unless you like causing accidents.
