Let me get this straight: Garry's Mod allows you to pose Half-Life characters and do other wacky things, but now people have figured out a way to port over characters and environments from other games?
How do they do this?
Long story short: there's a program called DirextX Ripper that allows the user to take a geometrical screenshot of any 3d program (emulators included), which then allows them to take that information into a 3d rendering program (such as 3dstudio max) and fix it up so it's compilable for HL2/other fps titles.
Thanks to this process, people can rip characters out of almost anything that is fully 3d - PS2/Xbox/Dreamcast/arcade emulators/GCN/Wii/360/PC/etc are all fully portable in some fashion.
