wtf. Worst idea for a remake I've heard yet. No one could ever fill Keitel's shoes in this role.
Also, the original movie only grossed $2 mill, so even from a business perspective I don't understand.
Uhh...
Nic Cage!

The analogy I was looking for finally hit me.
This is like trying to remake Taxi Driver in the late '80s without DeNiro. It's one of those movies that is just so comepletely driven by one person, and that person is on screen the ENTIRE movie.
Well at least he's not redoing King of New York...yet.
"Chuy, you're going to have a magical life. Because no matter where you go, it's always going to be better than Tucson."
Is the original any good?
All I know of it is seeing it for YEARS on the shelf with The Wolf pointing a .44 at me. I always thought it was straight-to-video schlock.

It's about as raw and disturbing as films can get. Definitely awesome.

It's a must-watch. It's not for everyone, and it has its over-the-top moments, but Keitel is so fucking good, performance of his career, and there are a lot of really memorable moments. Can't promise you'll like it, but you'll be glad you watched it either way.
It definitely wasn't straight to video shlock, it WAS ultra-low-budget indie. Keitel had just gotten an Oscar nod and so he was focusing on more independent roles like Reservoir Dogs and this to maybe drive it home.

Show me how you suck a guy's cock! Show me with your mouth!
How I've missed the Nic Cage of old...
