they did this on purpose to give it a claustrophobic feel. at first i thought the FOV was weird too, but after about 1/2 way through didnt even think about it anymore
beat it on Hard mode, cool end boss, just wished it would have been extended a little more, maybe with one more set of yellow nodules to blow
So I'm on chapter 3. So far Ive upgraded the default gun twice for damage and see no need to have any other weapons at this point.
That's supposed to be your "old faithful" it's easy to upgrade, can change its orientation at will, and does good damage.
The other ones serve for more specialized situations, or those "OH SHIT THAT'S BIG" enemies.
ABOUT ME.
"Underground music should have its back turned, it needs to be gone, untrackable, unreadable"
I beat it with the first gun to get the achievement
I recommend picking up the Ripper and getting it fully upgraded as well. It does a nice job of kicking ass when its upgraded a bit. The only guns I've used the entire game have been the default gun and the ripper. The flamethrower was pretty damn useless, and the "pulse rifle" shoots fast but isn't accurate enough.
I used the ripper and the line gun for most of the game. I also kept the pulse rifle around for long-range targets and the flamethrower around for crowd control. A fully upgraded ripper can slice through three enemies in one shot - assuming they're within range.
I just finished Dead Space tonight, and I want to reiterate the fact that the game blew me away from start to finish. Its definitely one of the best games I've played this year, just because it does a convincing job of sucking you into the game's world and not letting you go until you finish the game. It took me about 12 hours to finish too, and I think thats the PERFECT length for an action game these days.
My only real complaint is that the final boss was one of the easiest in recent memory...some of the regular enemies seemed tougher to meI'm also not sure what to make of the ending...?
