The gameplay looks fun but so was WarioWorld on GC. It was super short though, with very little to compel playing through again. I'm hoping Shake isn't in the same camp.
I'd still recommend picking it up. I can see the comparisons to Wario World on the Gamecube, but Wario Land Shake is a better game overall. Wario World on the cube was a little rough around the edges and this one is polished to perfection, as far as Wario Land games go.

I'm not a completionist by any stretch of the imagination, but I can see myself replaying this game quite a few times for the 2-D platforming goodness alone. So, if you don't mind paying $50 for a 6 hour game with tons of replay value, then go ahead and buy it.

  2. So I nabbed, and am stuck on the fourth boss when the thing shoots up those two thorn blockades, spits out the cannon and spiked guys, and proceeds to infuriate me. I can't figure out how to hurt him at that point. Anyone?

You need to hold onto one of the enemies he drops. Pound the ground just as their about to hit and then hold onto them wait for the vines to go away and then smack that bitch up. Its hard, but doable.

I beat the main game on this, which was fucking awesome. If I hadn't been so busy the last 2 weeks or so I'd have been working on finding all the secret levels, because they are awesome. I've found about 3 or 4 of them total so far, I think there's about 17 total or so.
    Where I play

I got this for Christmas. My initial impression is that it's not as good as Wario Land 4 but I can't quite pinpoint why. I'm enjoying it, though. It might be a "by the numbers" Wario but that still makes for a solid platformer, and it's much better in design than that other outsourced 2d Wario game, Master of Disguise.

    way easier, simpler puzzles.

WL3 and 4 are near perfection, this is still good.

For me it was also the animation of the sprites really turned me off as well. Although they were very fluid and beautiful to look at, since they were so over the top and repeated so often I got really bored of the game visually and killed my interest in playing it further than the first area.

I'm not far into enough to judge the difficulty of the whole game but yeah, it starts out even easier than usual so I'm sure that's part of it.

I actually liked the animation a lot, though admittedly it was also fantastic in the old Warios. But they were always over the top, so I dunno.

Zeed: It does get a lot harder later on, but nothing even remotely approaching the old games even on Normal (WL4 on Hard is pretty brutal).

  10. Just picked this up, it's fucking amazing. Maybe the best looking 2d platformer I've ever seen, and it's got the classic WarioLand gameplay under the hood. This is the first time I've played a Wii game in about 7 months, and I doubt I'll stop playing this one until I 100% it.
