Thread: A Photographic Journal Thread: The Summery Month of June

  1. A Photographic Journal Thread: The Summery Month of June

Didn't really want to make a new thread for this, but all the old photo journal threads are themed after specific dates, none of which are today.

I picked up a British motorcycle magazine, Bike, a couple weekends ago and just last night noticed that they have an article devoted to traveling new areas that have rad roads for motorcycling. This month happened to talk about riding in California, mostly focused on the Bay Area. To my surprise, it even talked about riding a road that's about a hundred yards from my apartment and a popular motorcyclist hangout down south about 40 miles.

I was pretty stoked to see our roads getting international recognition, 'cause they really are fantastic driving/riding roads. After reading the article, I talked with a coworker that also rides to see if he was up for doing the ride in the morning--like a trooper, he was game.

My route took me along the always beautiful coastal Highway 1 before crossing over back to Skyline Blvd (Skyline is the road that's just outside my apartment, but I deviated from it to ride along the coast for a while). Rode Skyline for a bit to the aforementioned restaurant which was, as advertised, crowded with motorcycles. My coworker and I weren't the only ones enjoying Skyline Blvd--lots of motorcyclists of all sorts, even a couple on scooters.

With my trusty helmet cam affixed, I recorded the ride home, leaving Alice's. Still uploading videos to YouTube right now, but the first one is up now (others will be here).

We also took some time to pose on our bikes and take photos--I'm fully aware that this was totally lame, but neither of us had any pictures of us on the bikes.

The ride was a blast and I'd love to do it again someday. If anyone's ever in the Bay Area, whether on bike or in a car, you really oughtta drive Skyline Blvd south of Highway 93. It's just fantastic.

Thanks dude, I love the thing. I recommend that anyone that's interested in motorcycling just do it--it's surprisingly affordable (and now I'm saving about $35 a week on gas).
