Thread: Call of Duty: World at War

  1. The zombie mode looks awesome, kinda like L4D.

  2. I played this afternoon and had a ton of fun. I RAPED fuckers all day. WTF. I think the chumps are on in the afternoon. I so love the tank. Once inside every tojo seems to come after you. Just find a nice spot and pick em off when they try to bomb you. So fun. MP40 with camo perk FTW. Love them bouncing bettys too.

Done. I remember playing a few matches of War with you in the Beta. Definitely good times. I actually tried looking for it tonight at a Blockbuster since I was right near one on my way to dinner, but the assholes had a huge advertisement up for the game with it not for sale. So I'm going to try and grab it tomorrow or Friday.

I'm really just in the mood for CoD fast paced rape style multiplayer. And since I'm so sick of destroying people in the pubs on the same god damn maps in CoD4, this is going to have to fill that spot. Despite me not being that impressed with the Beta.

So now is there online co-op too? As well, is the zombie nazi horde L4D style mode any fun?

  4. Well, I picked the game up. As long as it's better than CoD3, which I've heard it is in every way, I'll be plenty satisfied.

    Flamethrower dude.

    Remember.

  6. I should have picked this up for Black Friday for $40.
COD4 is easily my most played game on the 360, and I enjoyed the beta for World at War.

I wonder when used copies will become fairly cheap? COD4 stayed expensive for quite some time.

  7. No it didn't. I picked mine up for $40 like a month after release.

  8. Single player so far = MEH. The sniper part was pretty awesome, but everything before that just felt kind of lifeless and I didn't really care for it (though I don't think I'm that far into it). It's obvious they put a lot of effort into the SP mode, but their delivery of the characters and story have nothing on what IW did with CoD4.

Multiplayer so far = GREAT. Well, got up to level 8. Very solid experience. All of my complaints about the Beta seem to have been alleviated, or I just am noticing them less. The guns feel solid, the map selection seems surprisingly awesome (Airfield RULES so much), and everything else feels just as great as it did in CoD4. The only thing that really still bothers me is how overpowered the dogs are. Since you can't just take them out as a team like you could the helicopter, you are stuck fighting off dogs constantly until they run out no matter how hard you try to kill them.

I'm looking forward to getting some games in with people I know, since that always makes the experience that much better. But overall, two thumbs up, Treyarch did a surprisingly fantastic job with this game and I cannot recommend it enough to anyone who enjoyed CoD4's multiplayer.

I lowered the SF and the music. All of a sudden I realized as I am playing the people around me are talking and telling me a story.

No lie. For some reason in Dolby 5.1 they increased the SF and music to where I couldn't hear Keifer Sutherland telling me shit and talking about the mission.

no lie and I'm not being sarcastic. I was like you, but once I did that I was able to hear shit they were saying.

  10. I'm not playing in 5.1 and I can hear Keifer fine. The single player just hasn't gripped me like CoD4. The storyline has been meh, the transitions between chapters with the zooming vector graphics and narrative doesn't do much for me, and I could really give 2 shits about any of the characters in the game, including Keifer. And while I wouldn't call CoD4's story or narrative fantastic, it was at least effective in introducing the characters and scenarios you are around and in.

While in this one it's almost random "go take the airfield on a island against the japanese", and the next chapter, with almost zero explanation of why/how you got there "go snipe with this random russian sergeant who you know nothing about then shoehorn his death in at the end of the chapter to make you feel like you should care about him. The only reason I am going to finish the SP is because the gameplay is solid, the multiplayer is the selling point here as far as I'm concerned.
