  1. How does it hold up against Robocop The Series?

black robocop 4 parter or just the normal show?

  3. Robocop 2 & 3 were bad enough, I can't imagine how terrible it was by part 12.

  4. But in part 12 he brought law to Mars!

  5. I still like Robocop 2.

The main complaint against it seems to be that it was a disjointed movie in terms of direction and I can agree to that but it still had a lot of cool and interesting stuff. We actually saw Murphy's wife and her reaction to him, Murphy seeing some of his son in Hob, Robocop on a motorcycle, Cain and his Cyborg form and the continued look at sleazeballs within OCP, OCP not wanting to re-assemble Murphy because he's not exactly the product they want and the officer Duffy scene and so on.

Robocop 3 is where they REALLY lost their way although I thought the gun hand, jet pack, and cyborg ninja were cool concepts.

Robo 2 is s fun action movie, it's just not in the same league as the original. 3 can DIAF.

but japan! Japan is so scary!

True story. I've never seen 3. OG Robocop is closer to a Shakespearean tragedy than an action movie. Two is total shit, but manages to be fun anyway.

I don't know if I'll get around to seeing the new one or not. I want it to be one way.

  9. I can't find the quote, but Verhoeven called Robocop something like "violence porn for liberals." It was a reaction to all of the super conservative action movies of the era (Rambo, Rocky, Ghost Busters, etc.). From what I've read, the remake is in the same spirit, only it targets jingoism instead of unchecked corporations.

Against all odds, it sounds like it may not have missed the point entirely! Now that the snow has taken a break from sodomizing me, I'll see it soon.

  10. Was Ghostbusters particularly conservative? The bad guy was an EPA dude, so maybe?
