This is why a fair number of us laughed when IGN decided to do a 'top 10 8-bit soundtracks' article and only included NES games.

Sanxion, Katakis, R-Type, Cybernoid II, Robocop 3, Monty on the Run, and Delta are all amazing pieces of audio work that outshine anything on any other 8-bit system. Here's what I mean:

Yep, except for me replace the word "laughed" with "wanted to drop bombs".

I don't know about R-Type beating any other 8-bit system. I like the Japanese SMS version with the FM sound more from what I remember. Compile rocked.

  3. God I love the SID chip.

  4. I kind of don't, personally. Everything on it sounds exactly like Silver Surfer NES. Not a huge fan of the way it processes long notes, particularly.

  5. This C64 SID music reminds me of ESPGaluda's stage 2 BGM. Good times.

    Finished in 2021: 8 games (PC: 4, PS4: 2, PS3: 1, X1: 1)

This "Monty on the run" game looks fantastic. The music is great and the gameplay looks like the first pokour game ever. Should get the xbox live treatment.
