Thread: R-Type Dimensions

Well, and there's Super R-Type, the bastardized SNES port.

Yeah, I guess that could count although they changed so much stuff, it's almost a different game.

Oh well yeah, there was no port of R-Type II other than the Amiga version that was much good. The Atari ST and GameBoy versions couldn't compete, Super R-Type on SNES was only half of R-Type II and as NeoZeedeater mentioned, R-Type II on PC-Engine is just the 2nd half of the first R-Type.

  4. Here's a video of R-Type X68000, with a bit of all 8 stages. The resolution seems lower than the arcade, but it's still good. Shame about the damn Youtube video quality hit (esp. on stage 5).

Someone by the nick of "saucykobold" has a 1-life full run of arcade R-Type on YT. Stage 8 is actually so damn easy that a dog could clear it (yup, a mild case of Gradius final boss syndrome).

    Finished in 2021: 8 games (PC: 4, PS4: 2, PS3: 1, X1: 1)

What company is making this? They're hardcore.

  6. Southend, under Tozai. And MS is footing some, if not all, of the bill in exchange for exclusivity.

They're also doing the Lode Runner remake, which I think looks considerably more interesting.

  8. Wow, yeah, I just watched that gametrailers video. This is really nice looking.

Yeah, I really like how it looks. It's better than most budget games that just look like crap.

    Swedish developer Southend Interactive.

Tozai holds the rights to R-Type but Southend is developing it.

    Microsoft is publishing.

  10. R-Type Dimensions coming this month

Tozai's HD revival gets Xbox Live date.
    by Martin Robinson, IGN UK

UK, February 2, 2009 - R-Type Dimensions, the HD revival of the classic 2D shooter series, has been confirmed for a global release and is expected to land on Xbox Live Arcade later this month.

Developed by Tozai, the game is an HD remix of R-Type I & II, adding online co-op to the mix as well as the enhanced visuals. Shoot The Core carried word of the release date, and Microsoft has since told IGN that the game is on schedule for a European release, and that precise timings will be unveiled later today.

The game was looking in good shape on the floor of last year's Tokyo Game Show, where we managed to grab a brief hands-on.
