I'm surprised. This is pretty good. The 3D graphics are really nice, though not as nice as something like Gradius V. The game speed is correct, albeit at the cost of smooth scrolling.
But at 1200 points, I'll just stick to R-Types on PlayStation.
Played the trial, looks good and I love switching 2D/3D while fighting a boss.... but I will pass since I have the originals on PS1 and I should just play Final/Delta.
I played through infinite mode to see all the new graphics. It's cool and being able to switch on the fly is sweet, but infinite mode makes the game boring as shit, as you can just rush along and die as you please. I may work on playing it regular again, but the lack of a button config is fucking frustrating as hell, because the default config isn't very comfortable on my joystick.

Aside from the non-configurable button layout, both games are fairly glitchy. The Force Pod has a tendancy to get locked in walls and won't return when the retrieve/release button is pressed. At that point, you have two options, go retrieve it physically, or let it scroll off screen and eventually it'll meander back on from the left side. Twice, in one game, I managed to completely kill the backgrounds and foreground (everything was blacked out except for my ship and the enemies).

What the heck is with the terrible music in this game!?! They do all that work updating the graphics, and do nothing with the awful sound. Hell, just load the original midis into any music program and change the base instruments for gods sake. Unless im missing something thats a deal breaker for me.
