I'm not a statistician and I'm certainly not going to do the math on this, but I'm pretty sure that this graph shows a strong correlation between smoking and lung cancer.



I don't know how I feel about that second part of your post. I mean given that half a million people die from lung cancer a year I'd think that it's a good thing that the government finally decides to step in.

I don't really smoke much anymore and I'm not denying that their is a direct correlation between the two. I was simply saying that smoking was less contributing to lung cancer then anti-smoking groups make people believe.

I don't, nobody is forced to smoke cigarettes or be around them (in most cases). If they let people drive motorcycles without helmets, they should stay away from smoking laws as well (or at least complete abolishment in the public realm).

So basically contaminated vegetables are perfectly ok to sell in a supermarket as long as they're properly marked since nobody is forced to buy or eat them. Gotcha. (vegetables aren't addictive either, last time I checked)

Regarding the statistics thing, let's just put it this way: my Biology of Cancer professor stated time and time again that without the tobacco industry, cancer researchers would be out of a job.

Anecdotal Evidence: In the 4 years doing my job I have treated like one person with lung cancer that a)was not once a heavy smoker, or b)was in a profession in which they were exposed to smoke.

You're a fucking moron if you don't think almost all lung cancers are caused by smoking.

And Andrew, when I did oncology in University (and I'm sure it's the same) prostate cancer and breast cancer kill more people (atleast in Australia) than lung cancer. The survival rates in prostate cancer and breast cancer are MUCH higher than lung cancer, but so many more people get breast and prostate cancers than lung cancer (cause only some people are stupid enough to smoke).

i agree! a few years back when I was still a bouncer, people used to give me shit all the time when I would tell them they couldn't smoke inside. Then I'd have the ass hole's that I would have to tell numerous times that they couldn't smoke inside, that I would just walk up without a word, snatch that shit out of their mouth and then go back about my business
