With larger budgets and more staff, so what's your point? Also a movie would be what, one third the length of time one of these seasons is?

So your point is that them taking two to three years to make 5 hours of animation with a small staff and low budget is somehow ridiculous because Disney can make a 90 min movie in two years with 30 million dollars and hundreds of people animating it?

Hammer and Publick are just painfully slow at writing material. The last season was REALLY disappointing and no it hasn't been worth the wait. The specials they've done to appease the fan base also haven't been awesome.
They also write each episode, direct them, correspond with the Korean animation team, they had to find a new agent, animation studio, and storyboarding software for season 5, and it still manages to be one of the the most consistent, entertaining animated shows on TV where they don't insult the intelligence of their viewers. For a show on basic cable where they get to retain basically full creative control, I'd say it's a damn miracle.

Entire feature length movies are hand drawn in less time. Plus I think the last special wasn't, and was done in the sealabs/archer/etc way of doing it. Season just wasn't there for me, Season 2, some parts of Season 3 were the highlights for me.

    Spot on.

Anyway, this new season was great. My get together went well, though I overcooked the corn balls but we adapted and dipped them in mustard & parmesan cheese. Here's what I think people who are not impressed are missing or don't like: this season is about breaking each character and that character's inability to handle it (even Michael). For those who don't like it, you need to take a queue from Michael's iPhone and adapt - you're stuck in 2003. I thought the intertwining storyline was good because it allowed for visual omission to set up surprises without that omission breaking the suspension of disbelief, unlike the lousy writing of shows like Scandal, where OH NOES DAVID ROSEN GAVE HIM THE MEMORY CARD or OH SHIT THAT'S OLIVIA'S DAD come out of nowhere. I'm not even going to spoiler tag that because who cares.

Some of the blue and green screens were bad but I'm going to choose to view them like the model home.

You think their small staff is hand drawing the entirety these? LOFUCKINGL no they're storyboarding them and passing them off to the same korean animation houses that do every other show on TV or they do them in AfterFX. The quality they put out can be done in a fraction of the time, most of the time spent is waiting on them writing the episodes not on the animation. Each episode is about 20 - 21 minutes of content, there's 8 episodes this season, that's 160 - 170 minutes, which is less than double the 90 of your average movie. They're not doing 5 hours. Plus let's not pretend that the Venture Bros is animated to the same level of a Disney feature film.

Trey and Matt, also writer each episode, direct them, approve and supervise every single animation shot. Personally I think South Park has been just as consistent, entertaining, and non-insulting. Plus Trey and Matt managed to find the time to write an award winning Musical, along with a few seasons of South Park in the time these guys have taken to write 8 episodes.

Listen you guys can like them, and still admit they're painfully fucking slow.

  5. That seems like a happy medium.

  6. This fucking plot is rediculous!

    Boo, Hiss.

  8. It's just that the title is 'Arrested Development' and I'm 9 episodes in and it's ALL plot development.

  9. Yeah, that's a bit of a problem.

Also, what's with all of the green screen in here?
