Thread: EGM says Perfect Dark to PS2, Conker to Xbox!

Heh. Pretty much my thoughts. Maybe they'll do a new RC Pro Am or Jetpac or something and I'll care.

Not to get into the "kiddie" thing or anything, I'm just saying that to appeal to that base to sell more than it did on 64, it would have to have been released on another system, simply because of the amount of system's sold. If the 18+ crowd didn't buy it on 64, which was around for 5 years, they weren't going to run out in droves to buy it on Game Cube.

The graphics looked more or less the same to me as DK and JFG did. That same smudged effect. I guess it's just something inherent to Rare N64 games.
The 64 had a decent 18+ install base in it's prime, but a lot of that market had either unloaded their 64s or weren't buying software for them anymore. I'm not saying that Conker for the Cube would have been a million-seller - just that the viability of the console - combined with the Cube's increased appeal to the older market after RE and ED - would have resulted in increased sales. Other than being an amazing game IMO, Conker on the 64 had absolutely nothing going for it.

  6. I thought Conker was a pretty cool game, that really pushed the technical limits of the N64, but would it ever have been a hit, even if it had been a PSX title? I mean... the mixture of kiddie cartoon characters and blue humor, would that really find a demographic? Outside of the hentai loving perverts in video game message boards? I doubt it, but I guess we'll see when it's sequel appears on the Box.

I still gotta' feel sorry for Perfect Dark fans. As much as I dislike Rare, I hate the PS2 even more. I wouldn't wish that interlace-inducing hardware on anybody. Hey, Sony, GET A PROGRESSIVE SCAN MODE!
OMG! It's like you took my thoughts right from my brain with an ice cream scooper and put it into words! Thank you!!!

  8. I can't wait for another Conkers game. Singing Poo anyone?

That blows that PD is gonna be a PS2 game, I REALLY wish it would be an X-Box game.

I own Johnny Mnemonic on DVD.

I imagine the same people that keep South Park on the air...

Conkers: A decent platformer. Really more about swearing than gameplay.

PD: Fun, but actually worse than Goldeneye somehow. Used to be the best console FPS engine.

    Banjo and Kazooie/Tooie/Patooie: Never played.

Donkey Kong 64: I liked it, no one else did.

Goldeneye: GOD. Also 6 years ago.

That's really about it. The moral of the story is that as many have pointed out, Rare is highly overrated, and besides, the PS2 and Xbox don't have nearly enough "rumored" or "in development" titles.
Since I'm damn sick of people saying Rare has never released any good games, I'm going to put their entire release list here.
