    1. a state in which the supreme power rests in the body of citizens entitled to vote and is exercised by representatives chosen directly or indirectly by them.

This is why Frog doesn't belong on that informed poster list. It's burg and burg alone on that side.

  3. yeah the government does not exist to make people's decisions for them. it exists to make collective decisions that by their very nature cannot be made by individuals. and basically the whole american political spectrum is an argument about which decisions can and cannot by their nature be made by individuals and thus default to the government.

It fascinates me that there are people out there like Frog who honestly think the government is needed to do everything for us. I just can't get my head around coming to that conclusion.

  5. News

I just didn't understand that knowing someone's school history was a scale of measurement if you were suited to vote for a particular candidate.
    "Hah, Greg, you're terrible!"

How does that contradict what I said? He's making the decisions for them on their behalf, as he has been elected by them to do. They don't have referendums on every issue, so the decision making rests with him to do as he thinks is best for his constituency.

I'd imagine it's a lot like how you came to that conclusion for me.

  8. I'm actually really sorry I made this thread.

    It's awful and depressing.
