Darren Aronfsky wants Wrestlers to be in SAG.

How do you all feel about it?

It's obvious that Wrestling is not an athletic event, the results are pre-determined, the action is at least partially choreographed. The wrestlers have lines and schtick that they perform on Television and pay per view. The perform characters and there are writers employed to feed them lines and story arcs to perform. That's acting. It's violent acting. There's stunt work, but it is acting and performing. The story was sent to me by LostColonyEntertainment.com which has the full story, which I thought was interesting. What do you folks think about this?

“There’s really no reason why these guys are not in SAG,” Aronofsky told Newsday. “They’re in front of a camera performing and doing stunts, and they should have that protection. They should have health insurance and they should be protected."

Aronofsky teased Professor Brown's NYU Movies 101 class Wednesday night when he told them that there is a cut scene in which Rourke has a complete breakdown in his bathroom. He said that it was one of the greatest filmed acting performances ever (!), and it was so disturbing, he felt the film would be weighed down as a result. When asked if the scene will be included on the DVD, Aronofsky replied, “No. No one except me and Mickey will ever have this scene on DVD. When Mickey learned that the scene was cut, he didn’t talk to me for two weeks.” Dudes, we need to see that scene someday.
