That's a great story, but even I have the common sense to film in businesses when they're closed.

Though Aronofsky has said plenty of times he was going for realism as much as possible with this. I bet anything the customers being in the store during filming was done on purpose to add to the reality factor.

Maybe it's different when you hit the big leauge, but in the minors free extras come easy and are enthusiastic and attentive. Real honest to God customers on the other hand can be like throwing a wrench in the gears.

Yeah, but the pirated versions weren't out until 2 weeks after the movie released in NY and LA, and if they were national for that time, that's 2 weeks of good business, savvy?

It was shot on the cheap, so maybe money isn't an issue? i.e. Aronofsky is going to get work after this (Robocop) regardless of the box office receipts, so maybe he’s just doing it for the fan base.
