Rourke in an interview sad that aronofsky and crew didn't have enough money to close down the supermarket while shooting the deli scene so he had to serve up actual customers, lol. And that the cashier couldn't make out what he wrote on the wrapped lunchmeat so the customers had to go back to the deli section and make Rourke rewrite the shit.
funny
I'm really surprised this movie isn't making anything at the box office. I guess a long limited release and widely available screener copies will do that. They should have just gone national out the gate.
Everyone's just pirating it. I know I will be.

That's a great story, but even I have the common sense to film in businesses when they're closed.
Though Aronofsky has said plenty of times he was going for realism as much as possible with this. I bet anything the customers being in the store during filming was done on purpose to add to the reality factor.

It was shot on the cheap, so maybe money isn't an issue? i.e. Aronofsky is going to get work after this (Robocop) regardless of the box office receipts, so maybe he’s just doing it for the fan base.
